Windows 10: win 10 blurry text/screen - new laptop

The problem is a dpi issue in certain MS utilities and programs since most programs are fine with 125% scaling

 

Well, if the "Calibrate Color" and "Clear Text" are at default , things will get worse with higher DPI and in some Application the quality gets bad.

Again it is not a bug for Windows. You have your display set for a higher resolution, which may not be native, thus the blurry fonts when you see them. Your display driver is what controls the GPU to display on the screen, not Windows.

The fix is to stop using too high of a resolution.

 

It is suggested to not use Clear Type on LCD screens. Color adjustment is good if you are doing photo editing or writing up a master template for printing.

 

Again it has nothing to do with any programs, it has nothing to do with some strawman that you are making up about Microsoft. It is also not a Windows issue. The Display driver controls the GPU to display what you see on the screen. You have not even posted what resolution you are using, which is most likely not even native for your laptop. That is why the fonts are blurry.

 

All my PCs use native resolution and most apps/programs are pin sharp at 125% scaling. There are a few blurry utilities like Event Viewer which are blurry and cannot whose dpi cannot be changed. How can it be a driver issue when most apps/programs are fine? I think some Windows utilities are poorly designed to disply on a wide range of dpis and need fixing.

 

If you are seeing difference between different programs it is because of your GPU drivers and if you are using the utility. No one else is having this issue. It is always suggested to install the latest GPU driver and software to change settings. Changing the DPI is going to make text blurry. Especially if you have a large screen, which you have not posted what resolution that you are using.

Once again it is not a program problem, it is a GPU driver issue and possibly that your resolution is set too high by what the GPU considers "Native" for the LCD screen.

I have Glaucoma and implanted lenses from Cataracts being removed. I am not seeing anything that you are stating is going on. Even with my reading glasses on, the text on my laptop is not blurry at the "native" resolution of my laptop screen.

 

Screen resolutions are in my System Spec, are native and I'm using up to date drivers. Many people on the Forum report the blurry text problem like these:

Some fixes are proposed but I don't wish to use 3rd party utilities. There is clearly an issue whether it is due to poorly implmented GPU drivers or Windows 10.

 

I'm using the Windows10DPIFix with very good results. Third party, but effective. Had blurry text, but no more.

 

Eureka! I don't generally like using 3rd part utilities when MS should fix the problem. I downloaded Windows10DPIFix from here Windows 10 DPI blurry / fuzzy text font fix - XP Explorer, scanned it with Kaspersky antivirus & virustotal and checked out the file with Kaspersky Application Advisor. It works fine, although Kaspersky Trusted Applications wanted to block it.

i read all the comments and i really dont know what should i do.
i installed all the latest updates from my graphic drivers (nvidia and intel) and still nothing helps. i dont think is related to the graphic cards.. maybe its related to 2 graphic cards i have.

i used the windows10dpifix and its works only with 125% but the screen somewhere still very tiny (like the google chrome) its on 100% and i have to zoom it to 150% to see it better. i have 15.6 screen laptop.
what else can i do?

New laptop with windows 10, everything is slightly blurry on the 2nd monitor; blurry enough to give you eye strain and a headache. It was not blurry with prior laptop on windows 7. I'm beginning to think I will no longer be able to do my job, which is sit in front of monitor ALL DAY. I have a beautiful monitor, Viewsonic VG2436wm-LED and I want/need to be able to use it.
Build 10586.494 - unable to update it as updates are controlled by the company.
My Company IT support decided I needed to use a DVI cable instead of VGA. Didn't make any difference actually seems to be worse.

 

Did you try installing the program mentioned in post #23 above?

If you aren't allowed to install programs you could try the manual way as described in this thread Solved FIX | Windows 10 Blurry Text and Windows! - Windows 10 Forums

I used the manual method and it worked for me.
