  1. Win 10 Cant share files on other home computer

I have two computers running Windows 10 in my home. One is a Windows 10 Professional and the other a standard Windows 10. Both have the latest updates. I have spent hours setting things and still can't access folders from the Professional computer that are located on standard computer. I did at one time have this functionality but now it is gone. If I go to recent files there is a file there that will open from the standard PC location but I can't get to the computer or shared folder otherwise. If I attempt to open the standard ver. computer from the Professional computer it asks for credentials which I supply but then I get the big long message that the computer is not available and in another paragraph it talks about the domain not being available or some such, When I attempt to change the Network ID to "this computer is not part of a business network" the setting always returns to this computer is part of a business network. It really should not be this difficult to connect two computers. I need direction solving this issue. I have done all of the sharing things repeatedly. I have even tried to put the same user accounts on both computers. However the standard version PC will not allow me to set up as a user using my .onmicrosoft account which I use on the professional PC. Anybody out there with experience with this issue?

    :)

  2. File Sharing between homegroup computers using Win 10 and Win 7

None of he suggestions offered have solved he problem. However, I found out why I was not able to see the Window 7 PC folders on my Win 10 laptop. It was all related to the difference in how you find a computers on a homegroup. As it turns out, the
Windows 10 menu structure for getting to the Network is different between the Win 7 and Win 10 operating systems. The homegroup computers can be seen on the Win 7 buy going to Network and File Sharing on the Control Panel and by clicking on the the House
Icon between the Win 7 PC icon and the Internet Icon. These icons are not part of the Network and File Sharing menu on Win 10. Instead, the homegroup computers can be found on the Network icon under the Computer Menu on Win 10 computers. Once I found Win
7 listed under the Network Icon on the Win 10 computer I was able to access all of the shared folders on the Win 7 PC.

  3. Win 10 computer unable to access shared files on Win 7 computer

AH HA, Problem Solved: The problem is in Norton's "Smart Firewall" -- I turned this off and I can now access the shared files.. For some reason, Norton started treating the Win 7 connection to my home network as "public". I listed
my Win 10 computer as a "trusted source" and everything is back to normal.

Win 10 Cant share files on other home computer

File sharing between Win 10 and XP

I have the Win 10 computer getting into the folders on the XP. Ironically, from one Win 10 computer, I cannot get into the folders on the other Win 10 computer. The folders show on the C drive, but I get "Windows cannot access...." if I try to open a folder.
Homegroups have been setup on both machines. The C drives are shared on both machines.
