Windows 10: Win 10 Ethernet is not working

Hello,

I need some help. I wanted to set up a router as a repeater to have wi-fi all around the flat. BUT!
I can not even reach the router using an ethernet cable (straight), reset the router to factory settings. It has no valid ip. I tried to set the ip manually to the default one. It still cant get that ip! I pinged it, it was 25% loss. Even turned off the firewall...
I have a d-link adsl2+modem router (maybe not too old one).

(I can reach the other router via wi-fi. When I turned wi-fi off it wasn't helping.)


Any ideas???

New build, all works but ethernet

Anyway everything works fine except for the ethernet port. Under device manager it is listed as "Ethernet Controller", under the category of "unknown devices" (along with several other unknown devices).

 

My reliable ethernet connection no longer works

Hi Marcia,

To better understand the query, please answer the following questions:

• After restarting is your computer in normal mode or not?
• Are you getting any error message?

I suggest you to reset the modem\ router and check if the Ethernet connection works or not.

If still the issue persist then I suggest you to follow the steps from the below article

New build, all works but ethernet

Go to the asus web site and look up your motherboard model. Then go to drivers and download your ethernet driver
