Win 10 File Explorer "forgets" NAS after period of time 9 of 11 other network devices appear

This is a weird one. My NAS Network Attached Storage is "forgotten" in "Network" for Win 10 File Explorer by my desktop, but remains visible on my laptop. When I click on it in the laptop, then it "sometimes" becomes visible on the desktop. Note: "Other Devices 9" appears on the desktop, but "Other Devices 11" appears on the laptop. So, the desktop forgets the NAS and my TV which is off. Why should two devices be missing on the desktop?

DESKTOP connected via ethernet to router

    Windows 10 Pro

    Version: 2004

    OS Build: 19041.804

    Experience: 120.2212.551.0

LAPTOP connected via WiFi to router
    Windows 10 Home
    Version: 20H2
    OS Build: 19041.804
    Experience: 120.2212.551.0

    SOLUTIONS THAT DID NOT WORK:

    1. I updated my desktop LAN driver

old: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

    Driver Date: 04/10/2015

    Driver Version: 9.1.140 2015

new: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

    Driver date: 1/21/2021

    Driver version: 10.47.121.2021

NOTE: driver appears to be working correctly.

    2. Double Checked Power Options > Advanced settings > PCI Express > Link State Power Management

Laptop: On battery / Plugged in: "Maximum power savings"

Desktop: was "off"; changed to "Maximum power savings"

    3. I double checked the Services Local, by: WINKEY + R > services.msc

-- all names under "Network...." are configured exactly the same in both computers, Running / Manual / Automatic / etc.

    WHAT I DID DISCOVER:
I noticed that my desktop has a Local Service called "Offline Files"; My laptop DOES NOT even have something called "Offline Files." So, I am wondering if this could be the culprit. Maybe the desktop needs this to be configured differently? I can't "make it the same" as the laptop because it is not there on the laptop. Weird.

    thank you in advance.

    :)

NAS not appearing under Network in File Explorer - Automating the Fix

I have been having issues with my WD MyCloud NAS not showing up under Network on the left navigation pane of File Explorer. I am able to access the NAS by entering the host name (\\WDMYCLOUD) in the address bar in File Explorer. I was able to find a solution that fixes this and makes my NAS appear in Network as expected. The solution involved running Command Prompt as Admin, executing some commands, then restarting the computer.

What I would like to do is automate this process by creating a batch file that will:

    1. Open Command Prompt as Admin
    2. Automatically enter specific commands
    3. Close Command Prompt
    4. Restart the computer

The problem is I don't know anything about how to code batch files in order to accomplish this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Win 10 Pro file explorer lockup opening NAS drives

    greetings,

Win 10 pro upgrade from 8.1 pro on Hannspree netbook. Install went well, now when trying to access 2 different NAS boxes on my non domain network (simple workgroup setup) file explorer can't seem to access either of the drives, and when trying to abort the
attempt, file explorer locks up for about 20 seconds. Somewhere in the process I picked up a persistent error that the temp file removal failed, and this now persists even after reboots.

Had no issues w/ NAS file access while under win 8.1. No config changes to either the NAS boxes or the win install that I have made. Also, no issues accessing from my other win 7 computers.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

  4. Win 10 File Explorer "forgets" NAS after period of time 9 of 11 other network devices appear

Synology NAS Device not visible in Win 10 Version 1809 via File Explorer - Network option

I have just moved to a new PC running Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) Version 1809 built by PC Specialist on 23 Jan 2019.

However, I am encountering a problem with Windows File Explorer in so far as that I cannot see the target folders in my Synology DS918+ NAS under the "Network" Option at the bottom of the Windows File Explorer.

By putting in the IP address of my Synology NAS in the File Explorer Browser bar field, I can then see the NAS and the folders in the NAS. By saving the IP address in "Quick Access" can easily connect to the folders.

Unfortunately, as I cannot see the NAS under "Networks" in File Explorer, I cannot easily use either Syncovery or Macrium Reflect software to backup the required Drives/Folders from my PC to the NAS.

I have used the Win 10 Credentials Manager in Control Panel to ensure that Windows has the correct ID/password to connect to the NAS. I understand that there may be an issue with Devices not showing in Windows 10 File Explorer. Advice from the internet recommends
setting some services to Automatic (Delayed Start) and restarting Windows:

    • Function Discovery Provider Host (FDPHost) • Function Discovery Resource Publication (FDResPub) • Network Connections (NetMan) • UPnP Device Host (UPnPHost) • Peer Name Resolution Protocol (PNRPSvc) • Peer Networking Grouping (P2PSvc) • Peer Networking Identity
    Manager (P2PIMSvc)

These changes have had no beneficial remedial effect.

If possible, if anyone has already come across this issue, I would welcome advice as to how to solve this problem?

    Many Thanks.
