Win 10 has sleep apnea

I place my computer into sleep mode. 5 minutes, 20 minutes, 2 hours, four hours or more, the computer wakes up on its own. There seems to be no prediction as to when it will happen again.

I was told to run CMD in admin mode with two powercfg commands as follows and have the following results.

CMD: powercfg lastwake which reports Realtek
CMD: Win 10 has sleep apnea :power -requests and all four entries report "none"
Any other suggestions?

The apnea was happening over a few days and sometimes several times a day in te week before I posted the thread.

And now, how bizarre! I discovered CMD: powercfg lastwake and tried it. It reported:

Wake History count -1

Wake History [0]

Wake source Count - 1

Wake Source [0]

Type fixed feature

Power button

I presume that it reported that the most recent wake was from the power button and it was.

No now after a few days, no sleep apnea when before I used the app the system was waking at least once a day. Either the app fixed the problem or the computer now knows that I am onto something but then, maybe I spoke too soon {:

OTOH, the summer solstice did pass recently.

Check Event Viewer logs and track down the KernelPower entries. Usually there might be an entry for as to the reason why it resumes from sleep. For me, it was Windows Updates that were waking the system up to finish installing/downloading something.

I am unfamiliar with the Event Viewer but I believe found it. I do not seem to see any logs.
Tell me where to go....

Here is how you can access to event logs:

Logs are here .... under different categories.

Pay specific attention to the error events. The description, the source and the Event ID are the key information.

Interesting collection of entries. The last reported error occurred over a week ago indicating a "service Control Error 7009 None" and yet my system is activated from sleep almost once every other day. Sometimes twice a day.

I am told that Realtek should not be waking up the system yet every time the system is activated out of sleep mode, CMDWin 10 has sleep apnea :powercfg lastwake reports Realtek. Coincidence?

Why did a stupid smily face corrupt my message?

A Win 10 has sleep apnea :p makes a tongue smiley by default.

Edit the post, put the Win 10 has sleep apnea :p within and the smiley will not appear there.

Most of the event logs are only noise. It is too hard to find the right thing in the heap of the event logs.

Realtek can wake the computer up.

Make it sure if it is possible in your computer. Devices - See Devices that are able to Wake Up the Computer
If Realtek NIC can do it, stop it. Devices - Allow or Prevent to Wake Up Computer

Let us know the results.

*Roflmao2 well, sorry for the ROFL, mate!!! It is the most common thought that Realtek is your Audio device; but it is your networking device provider, too.

Look at here:

Now the name matches with your description? *Smile

See there. I think you may get what you are sehing for.

Ok, I found it. It looks as if that was the problem all along.
Now if there was a way to switch off my own apnea.

Strange though after about 15 questions/discussions here and there that no one suggested this.

I like smileys. But as you dont, I will not use those in your thread.

Now give it a time. See how it goes. Report us back after a reasonable time.
