  1. win 10 login password recovery for vulnerable user with disability

I'm in Ireland, my elderly parent 90 is in UK, and profoundly deaf. His computer refused to let him sign in yesterday, with no apparent reason, it keeps telling him that the password Microsoft account is wrong.

I can access the machine from here via teamviewer, so I know that most of the hardware is working, as is the internet, but it won't let me in either. I set up a second account a long time ago, but haven't used it for some time, there's been no need to, and one of the regular updates of Win 10 has disabled that account, the password for that no longer works either.

I have tried all the options for password recovery, but there is no way through that maze, partly because he has 2 stage verification on the account, and while I can access his mail account, I have no way to get the second security code, as the only way to get that code is via his land line, and because of the volume level and speed of the computer generated voice, he can't make out what the code it, and there's no secondary E-mail or text option on the account.

If I say that I don't have access to any of the recovery methods, and fill in the form with all the details, which I know are correct, it still tells me that it won't give me the information I need, probably because he's in the UK, and I'm in Ireland.

I spent over an hour with chat support earlier, and we went through all the issues so that they were in the case log, and then called my father to get him to call the UK disability support number, which was a complete waste of time, the rep that answered was not even close to professional and seemed to not even know what a case ID number was.

To say that I am unimpressed would be putting it mildly, I've been close to ditching Microsoft product for a while due to the ongoing problems, but this is now the killer, a company that won't support an elderly disabled user who needs access to his computer as a result of the current COVID-19 restrictions in order to get medical information that is being sent from the GP.

So I am now in a place of total pain, and thinking that their only option is to order a new PC online for delivery they are not supposed to leave the house for the next while and then when it comes, I can get their mail running again, and the rest of their information will have to wait until one of us can get there and strip the existing machine to put the disc drive into a caddy so that the significant files can be cloned off and recovered.

That doesn't greatly appeal to me, the out of box experience over a number of years with more than a few machines has been less than encouraging, I've had more than a few disasters with supposed new machines, and it seems not to matter what make they are.

I am raging right now, in that there is NO excuse for Microsoft specialist support being so unhelpful, both in terms of how hard they are making it to get any help, and not providing an acceptable level of support to a vulnerable user that needs more than just a quick "try rebooting the router" response, which was about the level he got earlier.

I have close on 50 years of computer background, and can recognise when a company has well and truly lost the plot, and that's where Microsoft now are at as far as I am concerned. I just wish there was a reliable easy alternative to a desktop computer, smart phones and the like are no good for someone in their 90s' with eyesight that's not great, and hearing that's bad, and using a screen based keyboard to enter data just does not work for elderly users.

So, what are our options, 30 days to set up an additional validation on the existing machine is a non starter, there has to be an alternative way to get into this thing. Due to covid restrictions, and no other computer in the house, it's not possible to create a recovery USB stick or similar, and for reasons I don't fully understand I can't get it to boot into safe mode via Teamviewer, so that blocks those options, effectively any hack program is a non starter.

I have refrained from using bad language, but believe me, it has been hard to do so, the contempt I feel for Microsoft right now is indescribable.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    :)

Can't disable login password Win 10

    Hello,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

    • How many user accounts have you set up on the computer?
You might face this issue if you have entered a wrong password or selected a different user account while unchecking the option
"Users must enter a username and password to use this computer". I would suggest you to follow these steps and check if it helps:

    • Press Windows key + R on the keyboard.
    • Type “control userpasswords2” without quotes and press
      Enter
      .
    • Click on the User account to which you login.
    • Uncheck the option "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer". If it is already unchecked, then place a check mark and then uncheck it.
    • You will be requested to enter the Username and Password. Fill in the details correctly. Type in the
Username, Password and Confirm Password manually.
    • Click on OK and then again OK.
    • Restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
Let us know the results and if you need further assistance and we’ll be happy to help.

  3. Windows 10 - disable login passwords

How do I disable login passwords for all users on my desktop?

I have followed the many suggestions I've seen on-line but still have not been successful in disabling the log-in password for each user (2 of us); neither can I successfully disable the screen saver password. I'm really hating Windows 10.......should be
    simpler......

Windows 10 - disable login passwords

    Hi,

Thank you for bringing up your query on Microsoft Community.

I understand that you want to disable User account password.

    • Are you using Microsoft User account or Local User account to log-in?
Let us try the following steps, and check if it helps.

    1. Search in the taskbar netplwiz

    2. Now user accounts info window will pop up.

Now, select the user account for which you want to disable the password login. Now, uncheck the option which says
user must enter a user name and password to use this computer.

Now, press OK or hit enter.

    3. A new window will come out in which you have to confirm your passwords. Use password for your user account here and press
    ok button.

    4. Click Ok button and you are done. You will no longer required to enter password each time you start your computer.

If you want to revert back password login feature, repeat the process explained above and check the field which says, user must enter a user name and password to use this computer. Now, enter the login credential to confirm the process.

    Hope it helps.

Let us know the status, we are glad to assist you further.
