Windows 10: Win 10 Mail app: reading pane squeezed to right side - must read messages in new window -...

The layout of the windows 10 email app has been rearranged so that I cannot fully display/read messages in the reading pane. The reading pane has been squeezed over to the right side of the maximized window. The only way to fully read most messages is to select “open message in new window”. The message list now covers almost all of the remaining horizontal space across the window. On the left side of the window, the blue bar – not sure what it is called – that controls the app, lists folders, the app settings button, etc. remains collapsed, unless I temporarily expand it. When expanded, the blue bar on the left overlays the senders in the message list.


This behavior started all at once. The mail app screen layout was ok. Then the user partially minimized the mail app window to open the winver app window. After that, when mail window was maximized, the scrambled layout began and has stayed that way ever since.


This behavior only affects the mail app on one Windows user account on the system – a non-admin user. The layout of the mail app on the other windows user account – admin privilege -- is normal.


I have rebooted/restarted the computer, adjusted every mail app setting that might affect this, changed message zoom settings can only read most messages in reading pane if zoom is 50-75% or less, and checked Windows Store for mail app updates.


What can I do to restore the normal layout of the mail app for this windows user account? I’d rather not do something that could affect/screw up the mail app of the windows user account that is working fine.

Reading Pane in Mail

When I left click on it my reading pane turns off.
I can also shrink mail APP from right side so it just shows list of messages without reading pane.

Now that I have to use the inbuilt Mail app within Windows 10 because WLM is discontinuing, I would like to know how to set the reading pane for all email to show at the bottom of the message list rather than on the right hand side.

There seems to be no option to change this. I have looked in Settings\ Reading, but no mention of changing the view pane from side view to bottom view....

Is this actually possible within the Mail app??

The reading pane in the mail app in Windows 10 Home on my 8 inch tablet is gone. There is just a message list and selecting a message opens it up in full screen. There is an easy way to get the message pane back and I'm just missing it, right?
