Windows 10: WIN 10 PC NOT RESPONDING TO ANYTHING FROM DESKTOP

This started when I clicked on a desktop icon to open an Excel file. The "Excel" logo would flash briefly then vanish. I tried this 2-3 times with same result. I then received an error message "OneDrive isn't signed in,please enter your sign-in info to start synching again" When I click on the OneDrive tray icon, I get a blank box that eventually says "OneDrive is not responding, with three options. The only one that works is the one to close the program. I tried heading to OneDrive in Settings, but nothing responds and I get another message saying that "Windows Explorer is not responding". I managed to do a system restore, but it did not succeed because the OneDrive folder could not be found. I tried the OneDrive reset, which did not complete. Then I tried to uninstall OneDrive with the "taskkill" command. It said that the file path to OneDrive could not be found.When I try to uninstall it through Control Panel, nothing happens. Also when I open my Chrome browser, it says that I have corrupt browser files. Can I get some help here? Thank you, Jeff

I should add that earlier this evening, I tried to change my user folder from read only. Halfway through the process, I decided to cancel and restore the "read only" status. The process appeared to have completed. I don't know if this may have created the problem that I now have.

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.

Your suggestion does not work. It did work on Windows 7.

  Right click on the Network
  adapter and go to properties.
  
• 
  Under properties go to Power
  management.
  
• 
  Uncheck Allow this device to wake the computer.
