Windows 10: Win 10 Pro 64-bit

Since, in my 2 laborious (!) years of experience with Windows 10 Pro (64 bit) on the nicely-'appointed' desktop I built, it does not work as advertised, can I return it to MS and replace it Windows 7 Pro (64-bit which does work as advertised)?


I thought I was being smart to purchase the latest, greatest. I'm tired of investing enormous months of effort that are going nowhere.

Upgraded - Win 7 Pro 64 bit OS to Win 10 and Received Win 10 32 bit OS- How to Fix

When I upgraded a desktop running Win 7 Pro 64 to Win 10, I selected installation of Win 10 64, however, system information now reflects that I have Win 10 32 bit and an x64 based processor. What steps may I take to re-install Win 10 - 64?

 

Upgrade Windows 10 32-bit to 64-bit.

You have to do a "clean install" of Win 10 64 bit. There is no "upgrade" process from 32 to 64 bit.

Did you have Win 7 Home or Pro. There is no "free upgrade" from Win 7 Home to Win 10 Pro. You have to do that upgrade in at least 2 steps:

Win 7 Home to Pro to Win 10 Pro

OR

Win 7 Home to Win 10 Home to Win 10 Pro

The 32 bit to 64 bit upgrade is a separate additional step.

Run the WinVer command. What Version and Build do you have?

If you have Version 1803, many people have reported "accidental" upgrades from Home to Pro by MS. But that "upgrade" doesn't work!

 

win 10 pro 64 bit won't install

I had win 7 pro 64 bit installed on my computer and it was working fine. I upgraded to win 10 pro 64 bit and it was working fine. I downloaded the win 10 pro 64 bit iso file so I could do a clean install. While installing, a message showed up that said
that the 64 bit os was not compatible with my computer, so instead it installed the 32 bit os. My processor is an amd fx 8350 (x64 based processor) and my mother board is an asus m5a99fxpro revision 2. I need help so I can install the 64 bit win 10 pro os
and get rid of the 32 bit os. Any help in figuring this problem will be greatly appreciated.
