Windows 10: Win 10 Pro: Explorer is not working properly

since June 2020 I have owned Surface Book 3 for professional use university.


Surface Book 3 Model 1900 i7

Win10 Pro, version 2004, build 10.0.19041.450.

Since a couple of weeks there are serious problems with the explorer window. Partly it cannot be opened at all. Sometimes the explorer window opens, but the page 'This PC' or the page 'Downloads' local does not load, even with a waiting time of several minutes. Renaming local pdf files will cause the explorer to "hang up". When I try to save a PDF from the viewer to Edge-Chromium, it does not work and Edge hangs. Exiting with the task manager and restarting Explorer or Edge does not help. Saving screenshots to document these errors is also not possible.

The problem is very common but sometimes everything works correctly for hours. Sometimes 1-2 restarts of the system help and the problem does not occur anymore. Sometimes restarts or shutdowns for a few minutes do not help and the next day everything works again for a while. The Surface has the latest firmware package and the Surface Diagnostics Kit has also been executed.

Windows has already been completely reinstalled, but the problems occur again.

What to do now?

File Explorer Search Not Working


I am trying to search in File Explorer (Windows Explorer, My Computer) and it will not find anything. I can copy text from a name in the list and paste it in the search box and it still finds nothing. I have looked at the suggestions that have been posted and nothing I find that is relative to this works. Anyone have any suggestions? I am running Win 10 Pro on an I3 coustom desktop computer.

 

win 10 will not shut down properly

Usually, this issue occur due to outdated or corrupted device drivers, services or processes which are not shutting down properly, or third-party programs that prevents your computer to shut down properly. For better assistance, we'll be needing additional

• Have you made any recent changes on your computer prior to the issue?
• Is this an error message Explorer\windows\settingsync\BackgroundUploadTask? If yes, where are you getting this message?
• If possible, can you send us a screenshot?

Meanwhile, we suggest that you run the Power troubleshooter as an initial troubleshooting step. To run the Power troubleshooter, follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X and select Settings.
• Choose Update & Security from the list.
• Click Troubleshoot in the left pane of the window.
• Under Find and fix other problems, select Power
  and click Run the troubleshooter.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
