    Win 10 reactivate

I activated a third party license on a computer running a trial version of Windows 10.

Then I activated Windows 10 license permanently, all with no problems.

Then the third party license manager reported that an application reactivation is required because the Computer ID has changed even though no hardware changes were done on the machine!.

I can confirm that the Computer ID reported post permanent activation is another Computer ID than originally reported.

This lead me to suspect that a reactivation of Windows actually replaces the Computer ID, even though nothing has changed on the hardware side!!

I need a confirmation from Microsoft whether I made the right conclusion on this or not, because this is the only explanation I can find.

I am currently investigating this with the third party supplier.

    :)

  2. Fresh Install of Win 10 without Serial Key?

Looking to reformat a laptops HDD, and then reinstall Win 10 fresh. The problem is it came pre-installed with Win 8 and I did the free upgrade to Win 10. How exactly would I re-format the HDD, reinstall Win 10 and ensure it reactivates properly? I don't see a Win 8 serial key anywhere in the contents of the box.

    Another Win 10 reactivation issue.

That’s fine, you’ll see this if the pc wasn’t upgraded to Win 10 from another version.

If Microsoft won’t accept the order number or anything else then you’re limited. It may be that you’ll have to phone again in the hope of getting a more helpful operative.

Did you do this before the hardware change?

I’ll provide further suggestions of which you’ve probably already done:

Some suggest switching to a local account, using the default key then switching back to a MS account has worked for them.

    I’ll keep checking.

win 10 motherboard change, reactivating windows

    Hi Famie,

If you are planning to change your motherboard, you will still be able to activate your Windows 10. In Windows 10 version 1607, there is a feature that you can link your Microsoft account to Windows 10 digital license on your device.
This can help you reactivate Windows using the Activation troubleshooter if you make a significant hardware change later, such as replacing the motherboard.

That being said, we suggest that you follow the steps given on this article
to reactivate your Windows 10 after a hardware change.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

If you think this was useful, do not hesitate to "mark it as an answer" to help those are facing the same problem.
