    bro67,
Thanks for putting up with me. *Smile
I have a Gateway laptop that I have a user account "Ivan" as administrator and a tower computer where I also have a user account "Ivan" as administrator. Both computers require a username and password to access the Toshiba laptop running Windows 10. They are all on the workgroup TECHNET. What exactly do I enter in the Toshiba for Windows Network to create a credential so that both computers can access it? Thank you for your continued help and patience.

No biggie. I am dealing with some weirdness with Mac OS High Sierra and have one on the back burner dealing with Windows 10 Pro that the MDM is not playing nice with Symantec EndPoint Cloud, so I am leaving the biege boxon the side when I feel like picking up that project again.

Win 10 Suddenly asking for Network Credentials

I just need to know who's credentials to enter on the Windows 10 machine that I want to access. I am in a workgroup, TECHNET, and the user of this machine is Lin.

Sorry, on my smartphone and accidentally touched send before I was finished.
Anyway, I don't know what to enter in the Network Address field (the workgroup "TECHNET"?) on the Windows 10 machine. Should I enter Lin in the Username field and create a password?
I want to be able to fill in the computer name and username and password when my Windows 7 machine asks me and when my XP machine asks me. I hope that I made that clear. I am new to this credentials stuff and it must be so obvious to you *Smile Thank you.

Workgroup should stay workgroup. Remember that Technet is a technical library that has everything you can think of in it on how to handle everything about Windows, without having to go pay for a bunch of books.

Coincidentally, we arbitrary named our workgroup TECHNET back in 1997. *Smile Seriously, should the credentials on the Windows 10 machine be of the user of that computer? And what should the syntax of the Network Name be? That's where I'm confused. We don't have any Microsoft accounts, just the user's name without any passwords to sign in. The name of this computer is Toshiba. Thank you for your help.

Win 10 Suddenly asking for Network Credentials

The credentials are for the computer(s) your connecting to ...
On the Win10 PC it's the Win7 and WinXP credentials.
On the Win7 PC it's the Win10 and WinXP credentials.
On the WinXP PC it's the Win10 & Win7 credentials.

The Internet or Network Address is the COMPUTER NAME as it appears in the Control Panel -> System on each of the PC's

If I remember correctly your using Password Protected Sharing and the Password in Windows Credentials can NOT be blank, so your going to have to set a User Account Password.

I followed your instructions and used the same password on each computer. When I am on the Gateway Windows7 computer, I am prompted for username and password to access the Toshiba Windows10 computer. The Toshiba says that it cannot access the Gateway, but if I remove the credentials from the Toshiba, I can't access c: but I can access users/Ivan.

    GATEWAY CREDENTIALS:

    Toshiba
    Lin
    1234

    TOSHIBA CREDENTIALS:

    Gateway
    Ivan
    1234

To access the Toshiba from the Gateway it already has the username Lin and when I enter the password (1234), it does not accept the password, instead the Windows Security message box changed from Lin to GATEWAY\Lin, and still does not accept the password. Error message says "Logon failure: unknown username or bad password."

    I don't know what I'm doing wrong...

I ran into with CE on a spare desktop that I set up to look at this issue and dealing with something is messed up. Even going back and doing the AE fix is not working, so I had to resolve to doing creative mapping, since I cannot see anything from Network in Explorer.

Anyone replying to my post, do not fret. It is a text box, not one that is for work purposes. It is to replicate this issue.

    I had it to.
Type in the name of the computer you are trying to log on to then type the password for WIN 10 outlook.
I have a new laptop Win10 it had no access to other PCs, but they all connected OK.
I have outlook mail on all.
One was named LoungePC I typed LoungePC into the top and Outlook Password into the next row.
Miraculously all computers became available .
    Hope this helps.

Thank you for your help. I decided to create a password for the account instead and have it log in automatically. Thank you again. *Smile
