Windows 10: win 10 technical preview

Hi all downloaded latest win 10 (10162) TP yesterday but can only install on any instance of windows im using that time of installation be it 7 or 8 ..... or on a Virtual Box, but not a drive of my choice ?, will this be the same for the final release of win 10 or will u be able to download a ISO version or similar ........ also TP version activation key I got didn't work with latest release but did install by skipping this part and seem to work so far ???

How do you get to the win technical preview? Do start as if you are installing win 10?

But how can I re-install the previous OS

it was inside my laptop and I don't have the windows CD

all i have is a screen shot for my old 8.1 os product key in the properties of Computer Device .

is that enough to reactivate the previous OS...???

 

I don't understand what you're saying, please ask you question again, but explain it more.

What does this mean exactly? As far as I know you can install Win 10 IP anywhere you want.
What are you doing, how are you doing it, what is happening, what errors do you get?

 

It sounds like web is using the upgrade button on 7/8.1 as opposed to downloading an ISO. And you can download the ISO now, in fact there is a thread on this forum already with a link to the download and the key if needed, which you can find here:

Then you can make a bootable USB stick or DVD, links for that are on the page as well.

 

Hi Carsomyr thanks for your help, but I downloaded the upgrade version and not the ISO version originally ..... all has worked well now I got the windows 10 insider evolution preview build 10162 ISO version up and running and activated as a genuine product, at my preferred destination, would u say the final release would work in the same way ?


PS win 10 takes over the boot system but I use Easy BCD 2.2 in win 7 and was able to get win 7 back as main boot but only second in list lol
