Windows 10: win 10 to ssd for virtual machine/box

I've watched a gazillion vids and tried 8(teen) ways to Sunday to create windows 10 on my new SSD to use on virtual machine/ box, whatever. I've downloaded and tried so many things I can't remember. After watching one vid telling me I needed to make my memory card a bootable iso of windows, I used some program to do something with the iso file. Then I used Rufus, as instructed, but all it did was change it back to the set up file windows sent me in the first place.

Every dang thing I try, I keep running into snags. I keep getting messages saying the operation cannot be done for some reason or another.

Then I used win to go. I set it so it would turn the iso into VHD (virtual hard disk files to be used in a virtual environment. It created files in RAR fashion. All over the internet, I see websites claiming that WinRAR will unzip them. I tried this but it told me to go pound sand. It did not recognize VHD files. Boy did I tell them to go &*(*&&^%%$ themselves when It asked me why I uninstalled.
I then tried 7 zip, but an hour later, I notice some message telling me that it could not access something or other.

Absolutely nothing I try works. Who the heck writes all the comments in these instructions claiming these methods worked for them. I've waisted about a week tryi8ng one thing after another. I've reformatted my Ext SSD about a dozen times after these programs change it, yet do nothing.
Has anyone actually created a windows 10 bootable SSD that can be used with oracle virtual machine, or is it a fairytale? I'm beginning to think it's a virtual concept. A fairytale

Virtual box and Win 10

I have a laptop with Win 10 home. I need to test a client/server application that I have written and have installed Virtual Box onto the laptop. Can my copy of Win 10 some how be used to install a second time in the virtual machine or must a second copy
of Windows be purchased to run in the virtual machine. I am trying to control my expenses during development.

Can someone help me, I'm having a problem in the virtual box in my windows 10 HP laptop it said it's a "failure to open a session for the virtual machine Windows 10 VM" in Windows 10. Can you tell me what to do, step
by step?

 

Clean install of W10 not possible in Virtual Machine.

1. If you do a clean install of let's say Windows 10 Insider Build 10525 on a totally new computer which has never had an activated Windows 10 on it, does it activate?
2. If you do a clean install of Windows 10 Insider Build on a computer where the underlying Windows 10, upgraded from a qualifying old operating system has already been activated, does it activate?

Answers:

1. No, of course not.
2. Yes, of course.

Why do you think that a virtual machine would make any difference? You have tried to install Windows 10 on a totally new machine which has never had an activated Windows 10 installed, therefore the Microsoft activation servers block the activation due invalid machine ID. In the highlighted part in below quote you admit your mistake yourself, plain and simple, yet you when doing this wrong draw conclusion that even if done correctly it would not work:

What you have tried is essentially the same as if you took a brand new real physical PC without any operating system, which has never had any operating system, and then installed Windows 10 Insider Preview wondering why it does not activate! Virtual Machines behave exactly the same way; if you want to clean install Windows 10 Insider Preview and get it activated you must do it on an existing virtual machine, one which has already had an upgraded Windows 10 activated. This "computer", the virtual machine, its machine ID is marked on activation servers as valid and activated and it will of course activate.

Be it a virtual machine or a physical computer, you cannot activate a clean installed Windows 10 Insider Preview on a totally new machine. How difficult can this be to understand?

When clean installing Windows 10 Insider Preview on a computer which has already had a previous Windows 10 Insider activated, you do not use the product key! It will be asked twice, once before the installation starts and once after the last reboot to OOBE phase. In both cases you skip the product key and your Windows will be automatically activated.
