    Win 10 Version 1709 to 1803 update failed consistently.


    Error Received using normal Windows Update : 0xC1900101

    Error Recieved using Media Creation tool 1803: 0xC1900101 – 0x4001E. The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during PRE_OOBE operation


    Both times the update gets to about 90% and then reboots and goes back to a system restore point.


    Attempted "Fixes":

    Unplug all Peripheral Hardware (Mouse, Keyboard, Second Monitor, Headset, Ethernet. etc) - Update Failed

    Clean boot - Update Failed

    Uninstall Anti-virus - Update Failed

    Turn off Windows Defender and Firewall - Update Failed

    Delete the windows update file from Software distribution and try again - Update Failed



    PC Specs:

    Asus Z87 Pro MotherBoard

    Intel I7 4790 quad Core 3.6 ghz Processor

    16 GB GSkill Ripjaw DDR3-2133

    Sound Blaster Audigy 5/Rx

    Samsung 840 Evo 240 GB SSD (Has OS on it and 48GB free space)

    Crucial MX500 500 GB SSD (Brand new with nothing on it)

    Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070



    It appears I have tried everything under the sun, but yet the update still fails. It has been well over a month since I first attempted to fix this issue myself, but it appears I can't and require assistance. I can upload the WindowsUpdate.log here if that would help, just let me know. I will not do a clean install so if that is the only solution I guess I will just wait for the 2019 update (although I'd rather not).

    Edit: It is worth mentioning that for every fix I have tried, the error code has remained persistent and constant.
