Windows 10: Win 10 won't downgrade to Windows 7 - despite giving me option to do s

My home built i7 running Win 10 Home 64 bit was fine for a few days, and then I had trouble with audio. I could hear all sounds but trying to record audio was impossible, It wouldnt even load the programms i use (Roxio creator 10 and Audacity).

After wasting a day resintalling programmes, updating drivers I'd had enough, so i decided to Settings > Recovery > Go back to Windows 7.

I clicked that, went through the various options, and clicked on return to Windows 7.

The computer shut down, then booted up....and came back with Windows 10 still working. I have looked online but can find no one else with the problem !

Ive tried 8 times now. Windows 10 is very tenacious. How do I get the PC to do the apparently simple task of returning to Win 7 ?

Downgrade to win7 from win10

Yesterday bought Dell Vostro laptop with windows 10 home. after configuration, I didn't find an option to downgrade to win 7. Its not even 30 days. Could some one please assist me.. if I do installation with windows 7 cd, do I need separate win 7 key
or will the windows 10 key suits for win 7?

I did not want to lose my Win 8.1 installation. It sounds like its the best option for me though, to downgrade to Win 7 Pro so I can get the win 10 pro upgrade.

Just checking. When did you upgrade to Win10 as I'm pretty sure the rollback function only works for 30 days after upgrade?

 

Thank you ! Yes, I'm aware of the 30 day limit. I did the upgrade to 10 less than a fortnight ago. If you go past the 30 days i gather the option to return to 7 either isn't offered at all or it tells you it can't be done. Neither apply to me.

The option is there, and every help article I've read says its simple - the follow the steps I've already done. I am offered the option of returning to Windows 7 and click it. The PC shuts down, restarts........with Windows 10 !

I can;t help thinking I'm goign to have to do a full reinstall here. Thanks Microsoft.

 

Sorry if you have tried the following but I have to ask just in case:

This is a bit of long way around. But if you reboot in to the advanced startup options and attempt to repair the win10 installation maybe the win7 rollback may work.

It could also be possible that your running services and startup programs are interfering with the rollback functioning correctly. Rebooting with absolute minimal services and startup programs may allow rollback to operate.

I've tried F11 to enter the boot sequence and the del key to enter the bios but can't see anything obvious like the old safe mode in XP

It just starts as win 10.....

Is it done from within win 10 p ?

 

yup or via an installation or recovery disk

Anyhow, from within Windows:

• Settings > Update & security > Recovery
• Then from within "Advanced startup" click on 'Restart now'

This will take you to the Advanced Startup Screen (essentially a recovery gui). From here you'll be able to access the all the repair options

 

Thank you.....found it. I've had a poke around and no....it can't roll back or revert to a previous version as it encountered 'a problem'.

Startup repair ? 'Startup repair couldn't repair your pc' it says.

Offers me a reset but threatens to lose a load of programs.

I'm resigned to a reinstall.

No. It just went round and round. So I did a reinstall of win 7.

Then the cpu overheated about a month later and it completely died !
New pc still running win 7 and haven't bothered with 10
