Windows 10: Win 11 stuck installing a big update

Windows was installing a big update that required additional memory thumb drive. After it started installing, it got stuck in the screen shot that’s attached. Can someone help please?George

Thank you very much for responding.

I've done the steps you suggested.

starting from the windows update troubleshooter.

and then download the tools for resetting the windows update component along with the steps on the forum.

and try to check and install all updates available.

and the last one tried to install again with windows 11 update assistant and still stuck on a black screen (like restarting but didn't come back during the installation process) only the power button worked and when clicked again undoing changes.

still don't know the root of the problem

To understand the issue better, I would like to ask some questions:

• Is the computer stuck in the Installing updates screen?
• For how long is the computer stuck in the screen?
• When was the computer last updated?
• Is the screen showing any percentage of installation?

Sometimes the installation might take a long time to install if the update is of large size. So, I suggest you to wait for sometime and check if the system boots to the desktop. If it is taking a longer time, then perform a Power Drain by following the steps
provided below:

• Shut down the Computer.
• Remove all power source (including battery if it is a laptop).
• Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
• Connect the power source and start the computer.
• After the computer boots to the desktop, suggest you to install all the pending updates.

geforce experience takes an age to load..

Well that's why I asked. Mine is on SSD and takes 11 seconds. Your list of games will not appear if it has not checkd for updated suggested settings for awhile until it checks.

When it says it is refreshing the game list, it is checking, because NVIDIA periodically updates suggested settings. Plus it will look for those for new games you have installed.

So, the less it is run, the slower it will be.
