Windows 10: Win-To-Go: Sometimes chkdsk auto runs on reboot

I created a Windows-To-Go type VHD file using Rufus and the Win10 installation ISO. It works great but sometimes when I boot the VHD, use it and shutdown the OS, I get a boot message that errors were detected and chkdsk runs when I boot the system OS, normally. It doesn't do this every time.

When I created the VHD with Rufus, I used it's Win-To-Go creation option.

This is the first time I've created and used a Win-To-Go boot device. What is causing the errors and chkdsk to run at boot?

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

 

chkdsk c: /F

It might be an error on the drive. We suggests that you follow the troubleshooting steps below:

• Run Disk Cleanup utility to clear your junk files.
• Open an elevated CMD type sfc /scannow and hit Enter to run the System File Checker.
  
• Once the scan is completed, restart your computer. Remember to exit ChkDsk
  during boot.
• Next, again open CMD as admin type
  Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and hit Enter to repair the Windows image.
• Now see if ChkDsk able to complete the scan.

Note: Before doing the steps, make sure you save a back up of your files.

Why can't I run chkdsk?

• Could you tell us if you're logged in as an Administrator when you're trying to run chkdsk on your computer?
• What is the exact error message that you are getting? Kindly send us a screenshot if possible.

Meanwhile, we suggest that you try to disable the third-party antivirus software on your computer. After disabling it, try to run chkdsk and check if the issue persists.
