Win Updates Notification causes Blue Screen

First BSOD in Win 10. Pro 1909.

Happened by simply clicking "You need some updates" in the notification in Action Center.

    System Service Exception in win32kbase.sys

Went to collecting data 100% then stayed on the screen. Did not reboot automatically. So my very first question is:

How do you restart from a BSOD? I had to hold down power to shut down, then restart. Several messages in Event Viewer showed this was not a happy thing to do, but reboot it did. CTL-ALT-DEL did nothing. Is there a better way?

Any insights in to the error? I have barely started to Google it so forgive me for posting before exhausting Google.

Now, here is something I do often and was about to do when this happened:

-I click on the notification from Action Center.
-It opens Windows Update Settings but does not automatically download or install anything as I am set to notify only.
-I examine the updates and choose to install or close settings, go to Windows Show/Hide and hide the update if I choose.

I did not get to do things that way right now. A first that clicking the notification did not take me to Windows Updates. And the only update that shows as hidden in Show/Hide is the .net which I already have but usually shows as needed again when it is not. (4.38?)

The update offered has to be the KB4565503, which I likely would have hidden.

The above process has always worked. This BSOD is a first.

Now, there is one thing I did that may have caused this:

I have CU's set to postpone 7 days and Feature Updates to postpone 30 days which I see who has had what issue. In GPEDIT, of course. I changed the feature from 30 days to 45 days and did not reboot. Could this be the cause?

Appreciate insights as I go off to Google.

    Thanks.

PS. SFC and DISM found no issues.

    :)

Latest update from Windows has caused blue screen of death?!

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    • What is the make and model of the computer?
    • What is the version of Windows 10 installed on the computer?
    • Did you reinstall the update and the application after resetting the computer to factory settings?

We need crash dumps in order to know what is causing this issue and suggest the appropriate steps to follow.

We have sent you a private message, please reply to the message along with the crash dumps. Dump files can be found in C:\Windows/Minidump/*.dmp.

Meanwhile, I suggest to try with the steps mentioned in the article:
