Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

 

after turning off computer, win10 reservation tool does not remember I entered my e-mail address

I went through the screens to reserve Win10

step 1 - I got the screen with: "great, your upgrade is reserved, enter your email to get confirmation"

step 2 - I entered my e-mail address

step 3 - it says: "all done for now" (which is what the "check your upgrade status" says too)

step 4 - Turned off my computer in the evening. Turned it on again the next morning and clicked the "check upgrade status"

step 5 = step 1: Upgrade status says: "great, your upgrade is reserved", enter your email to get confirmation

step 6 = step 2: I entered my e-mail address *again*

step 7 = step 3: it says "all done for now" (which is what the "check your upgrade status says too)

no matter how many times I repeat the steps 4-7, after turning off my computer and turn it on again, it would appear (???) that the reservation app remembers that I registered for the upgrade (check upgrade status says: "great, your upgrade is reserved"),
but it does not remember that I already entered my e-mail address and asks me again.

A friend who also reserved Win10 says he got an e-mail from MS as confirmation. I did not receive any e-mail so I think my Win10 may not yet be reserved, as apparently the registration of my e-mail address does not reach MS, so the reservation of my Win10
may not reach it either.

Questions:

1) Is my Win10 reserved or not?

2) How can I make it "remember" and really (not just seemingly) submit my e-mail address to MS so that I get the confirmation e-mail from Microsoft?

Intel Updates Core 2 Quad Q9550 to E-0 Stepping

We continue our Monday news list with another Intel story that brings to our attention information concerning the company and more specificly its 2.83GHz Core 2 Quad Q9550 chips that will move from the current C-1 to the newer E-0 stepping. The updated chips will start selling on August 22nd, featuring the following changes:

• New SSpec and MM numbers for the converting products
• CPUID will change from 0x10677 to 0x1067A
• Package change to Halide free package

Apart from that, the new stepping CPUs will not include any other changes. Of course, like most new stepping parts a BIOS update will be needed.
