  1. Win10: Error Update 1909->2020h2 - 0x8007042b-0x4000d

    Hi all,

I was wondering why my Windows is still on 1909, so I started the Update Assistant to update to 20H2. The result was a rollback to 1909.

I then disconnected the other drives and tried again using the MediaCreationTool: Rollback to 1909. At least I got an error message:

    • 0x8007042b-0x4000d second_boot migrate_data
Also when looking at the Panther and Rollback setuperr.log files, I have no idea what I could possibly do.
I tried to disable the services/startup programs as recommended: No luck.

I tried the DeskCleanup and removed all options: No luck.

There is no antivirus installed except for Windows Defender, of course.

The errors logs are uploaded here: Mediafire Folder

    Any ideas?

    Windows 10 upgrade 1909 to 2004 failed with error 0x8007042b - 0x4000D

    Hi,

I've been trying to upgrade my Windows 10 installation (1909 to 2004), and having tried a lot of things without success It always rolls back the upgrade with the following error message:

Error 0x8007042b - 0x4000D The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation

Regular Windows updates for 1909 works properly and I get updated as needed. In my attempts to perform the upgrade I've been trying everything I could including:

    1. run DISM and SFC commands to fix corruptions (there aren't any)
    2. remove softwaredistribution folder
    3. remove Avast AV
    4. perform clean boot
    5. perform upgrade from media creation tool

I really need some help to investigate the log files to determine the root cause as reinstalling without apps will be extremely painful in my case. I've prepared the following files and can share directly with any advisor who will be willing to take a look
(if more are needed I can provide):

    • Setupact.log and Setuperr.log from the following path C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther
    • Setupact.log and Setuperr.log from the following path C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback

    Thanks in advance,

    AZY

    Windows 10 upgrade 1909 to 2004 failed with error 0x8007042b - 0x4000D

So, I still get the same error message after the rollback: Error 0x8007042b - 0x4000D The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation

    performed the following:

    1. all windows features turned off (as advised above)
    2. clean boot per https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows
    3. attempted the upgrade using media creation tool
a new set of logs uploaded here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Akui4acu0VPSiCowe_3DzvJCYuAw?e=XBgWf8

    any advise?

    Thanks,

    AZY.

  4. Win10: Error Update 1909->2020h2 - 0x8007042b-0x4000d

    Error code 0x8007042B - 0x4000D

    Hi, I'd need your help.

I've tried to upgrade my current Win 7 Pro-version into Win 10 Pro-version, but the error code appeared in the final stage of the installing every time:

    Error code 0x8007042B - 0x4000D
The installation failed in the stage SECOND_BOOT because the error took place during the function MIGRATE_DATA

In the control panel, Windows Update-section has been called as error code 0x8007042B - 2000D and there weren't any solution for this error in the guidelines .

I ran the sfc /scannow in the cmd and there weren't any defragmentations.

How could I get this error code fixed ?

My goal is to preserve all my music making plugins & files as they are in Win 7, so I'd like to keep some of my old files (Program files/Vstplugins, Program files (x86)/Vstplugins etc.) from Win7 to Win 10.
