    WIN10 HP laptop only 3 weeks old - Windows icon & Cortana not working


    I've got a brand new WIN 10 HP Pavillion laptop (16 gigs RAM 2 TB HD) only 3 weeks old.
    Windows icon on L bottom task bar AND Windows keyboard icon do not work. Cortana also not working.

    Already spent too much time with HP chat trying to fix problem remotely but no fix.
    Have a copy of entire convo if anyone finds it helpful:

    Can anyone help or ID what's going on?

    Start Menu, Taskbar, Cortana and search Not Working.

    I had similar problems. Updated my HP Pavilion DV7 laptop to Win 10 last week but no matter how hard I tried, could not get Cortana to work for me. No microphone icon, no Notebook icon etc etc.

    Installed Windows 10 update released on 5th Aug 2015 - initially thought Cortana was still absent after a restart until I simply clicked on the 'Home' icon in the Cortana window (after clicking on the 'search' icon near the Start Button) and was presented
    with the Cortana greeting and setup procedure...................... Cortana is now working WIN10 HP laptop only 3 weeks old - Windows icon & Cortana not working :)!

    Windows 10 Creators update

    I have an HP Envy 700-430qe desktop. I have gotten the message for checking security settings and checked off my selections. That was 2 weeks ago. Creators update has not loaded. The HP site offers a listing of tested models that are supported for the
    windows 10 creators update which does not include my HP Envy 700-430qe desktop. Is that why the update is not loading?

    Seems strange to me since the HP machine is 2.5 years old, with i7 processor and 12 gigs ram. Also I have a Dell Inspiron 4110 laptop that is 3 years older than the HP Envy desktop. The Dell laptop has only 6 gigs ram and a much slower processor. On that
    laptop the win10 creators edition installed this past week as soon as I completed the security questionnaire.
