  1. Win10: Incorrect Date Format (only on Lock Screen) - SOLVED

I posted this issue November 21, 2018, and have just now discovered how to resolve it (albeit not happy about the workaround required!). I'm posting this update in the spirit of helping others experiencing the same problem. Note: It's possible that this issue is only affecting users in Canada ...

My Region is set to Canada, and my Language is set to English. In Settings, the Date and Time Format fields correctly summarize how the various date formats should appear. For instance, the Long Date for Canada should, and does, appear as (for example): Thursday, February 7, 2019. This is the date format displayed when hovering the mouse over the date on the taskbar. So far, so good.

However, on the Lock Screen (and nowhere else), the Long Date displays as: Thursday, 7 February 2019. I assume this is the European Long Date format, and it's been driving me nuts for over a year.

I faithfully attempted each and every fix posted on various websites; as well as those suggested by users of this site (thank you to those who responded in November). I even called Microsoft (don't waste your time, especially if you suffer from high blood pressure!). However nothing worked - and other users have reported the same inability to resolve the issue.

Last week, I edited all of my Region and Language Settings. I removed every single reference to Canada, and changed them all to United States. After doing that, I clicked on the Administrative tab, then Copy Settings. Next, under the heading Copy Your Current Settings To, I placed check-marks next to Welcome Screen and System Accounts, and New User Accounts.

This time when I rebooted - the lock screen date appeared correctly (Thursday, February 7, 2019), and it continues to do so. However, I'm very irritated that it was necessary to do this, as Canada and the UK use the same spellings, which differ from 'American' English. So sick of Microsoft defaulting to English (US) - and constantly resetting to that default, even after a user selects English (UK) or English (Canada)! Microsoft Word is notorious for doing this, over and over and over again.

After extensive research and experimentation with the Lock Screen date format issue - it's my belief that Microsoft has built the wrong date format (European) into the English (Canada) code.

    :)

    Lock Screen Date Format Incorrect

The date format on the Windows Phone 8 lock screen does not match the regional format in Settings -> language+region.

I have the following regional settings set:

    Phone language: English

    Country/Region: Australia

    Regional format: Australia

Regional format example (Date): Tuesday, 3 June 2014

    However, the lock screen displays:

    Tuesday

    June 3

How can I make the lock screen show Day Month rather than Month Day?

Windows 10 Lock Screen date format

We appreciate the information that you've given. This issue may have occurred due to the selected Format under Region. There are locations that happen to follow a certain date and time format. To correct the format, we suggest that you follow these steps:

    • Press Windows icon + X and select Control Panel.
    • On the Control Panel window, select Clock, Language, and Region.
    • Under Region, select Change date, time, or number formats.
    • On the Region window, under Formats tab, select
English (United States) on the drop-down menu on Format.
    • Click Apply and OK.
    • Check your lock screen. (Attached is a reference photo)

Win10: Incorrect Date Format (only on Lock Screen) - SOLVED

Weird date format in lock screen

The lock screen date format is based on your locale and your "Lock screen date pattern" (element msLocale:lockScreenFormat) setting.

If the lock screen rejects your "Lock screen date pattern" in your locale, then the lock screen ignores the invalid pattern and uses its own pattern: for example with the en-US locale, full month name, comma, space, and the partial month day (element msLocale:monthDay).

To customize your lock screen date format, see this thread:
