Windows 10: Win10 installation fails or freezes upon launch

I have bought an HP pavilion laptop 3 days ago and have been trying to install windows 10 ever since.


Whenever I try to launch the wi dows installer in the UEFI mode, the i stallation freezes. I tried multiple ISO files. I tried using the media tool, I tried using the ISO you can download directly from Microsoft's website, etc.


When launching the installer in legacy mode, the installation progresses normally. However, it freezes as soon as the "getting ready screen appears".

Through trial and error, I managed to install windows by switching back to uefi the secont the first reboot occurs after installation from the usb has completed, but the set-up has not yet initiated the part where the user is asked to select the time zones, etc..


However, the version that launches with this procedure fails to load half of the time, whenever the computer goes into sleep mode, it is unable to recover from it and needs a hard reset to try and launch.


Could you please suggest what else can be done?

I have ruled out the faulty usb drive, as I tried this on multiple units. I tried various ISOs, in different languages. The computer is brand new and seemed to operate normally once I managed to install the unstable win10 mentioned above.


I have already put 16+ hours into this issue. I feel pretty frustrated.

Windows Vista Wont Install Freezes?

had the same problem, freezes and long installation including each step loading, in my case a bios update helped.

I am trying Eagle 51's suggestions now. Windows Update troubleshooter found a bunch of errors and fixed all but one.The update is trying to download KB4025339 again. I'll see what happens. At step one troubleshooter finishes with one error unresolved "Potential Windows Update Database Error Detected-Not Fixed". Windows update stalled at 0%.

At step 2 same troubleshooter error. The KB finished a new download failed to install.
Did step 3 KB has downloaded but fails to install.

If Eagle's suggestion doesn't work I'll try EdTittel's suggestion

Tried bothe Eagle & Ed 's suggestions - do not work. Anyone else?

I have noticed that the latest update for my nvidia drivers has failed to update. Wondering about that!

 

Win10 Clean Install FREEZES - Graphics - NVIDA

Win7 Upgrade failed so I created a USB Boot to do a clean install. That seems to work with no apps loaded and no updates applied. Then when I connect to the internet the Win10 Update process does its thing = FREEZE. The system functions that I launch just
stick to the task bar and cannot be seen as launching or running. I see the icon on the task bar but nothing more happens. Including Task Manager so I cant tell whats running.

I think its the NVIDA Graphics or possibly the Intel Graphics - both fail with an error after installing the recommended Win10 updates......

btw...... With a clean Win10 I am unable to get Win7 image via image restore & a restore disk.... Im trapped! Help!

UPDATE 1: Manually downloaded NVIDA and Intel Graphics drivers for Win10 and that seemed to work for a while..... Therefore I think it must be Win10 Update process...... Cant say for sure which update destroys & freezes......

UPDATE 2: Left the system 10 alone for awhile and something happened (ugh) - it is FROZEN again...... cant debug as all system apps will not launch. Since I was online something related likely happened..... an auto update killed me??? I had deferred installs
......

UPDATE 3: I am convinced that every time I connect to the internet - NVIDA Graphic downloads - against my wishes, and it is that ( probably 3D Photo Viewer) that is freezing Win10 my clean install....

PLEASE allow me to select which updates can be be installed, if you cant get it right the first time!!!

btw.....Cannot get the community "Ask a Question" to work for "Windows10>Upgrade&Recoverry" properly - please fix or remove the option!
