Win10, Mouse and Kb not working in Windows - works in BIOS screens

The fix for this problem might be available somewhere in this Forum.
I had a look around but have not come across it.
On Win10, my son's desktop has all of a sudden stopped recognising the mosue and keyboard.
They work within the BIOS screens which tells me it is a Win 10 bug.
I have gone into recovery screens and there the mouse and kb also work.
I have removed kb and mouse drivers that were not windows (at some stage my son had a razer mouse and a kb, so I removed those drivers through command prompt
    Problem not resolved.
Reloaded Win10 - booted all the way through to the sign on screen but KB and Mouse still not working
Did it again - Went all the way through to the sign on screen and got message You do not have Administrator permission or something to that effect. Tried a few suggestions, like going into the Reg files and changing the admin reg file but that made it worse because after doing this I could not get into any screen in recovery mode because of "No administartor defined" or something to this effect.
Have now reloaded Win 10 the third time. This was was a complete new install, removing all files and apps, etc.
Boots all te way to the sign on screen but thel KB and Mouse still do not work..
I am thinking that this might be malware which is somewhere deep in the HD mening that I might have to reformat the hard drive.
Is this the correct approach or is this maybe a known problem, and I am missing something someone else might have already resolved without reformatting the HD?
    Your help highly appreciated.
    Regards.

  2. Mouse/Keyboard work in BIOS, they do not work once computer boots

I have been using computers for over 25 years now, and I have never run across a problem like this. Backstory: I built my current PC about a year ago. Everything worked perfectly until about 5 days ago. At that point, it needed to restart. I restarted it, and upon boot neither the mouse or keyboard would respond. I tried a different mouse and keyboard, they did not work either. I tried both of the mice and keyboards with another PC, and they worked fine. This absolutely rules out the problem being the inputs. Then, I noticed that the mouse and keyboard do work in BIOS. However, after exiting BIOS and booting, they stop responding altogether. I have gone into system recovery countless times and tried literally every recovery option listed, to no avail. Any suggestions to help would be GREATLY appreciated. For the past 5 days I have literally had a $3000 paperweight.

Mouse and keyboard won't work after bios

    Hi,

One possible reason that your mouse and keyboard is not working is due to an outdated or corrupted drivers. Since you've recently made an update, there might be drivers that are having compatibility issues
    that needs to be addressed.

We suggest that you run the Bluetooth Troubleshooter by following the steps below:

    • Select the Start button, then select Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot.
    • Under Find and fix other problems, select
Hardware and Devices > Run the troubleshooter.

    If the issue still persists,
follow the troubleshooting steps provided in Mouse, touchpad, and keyboard problems in Windows
    article.

Update us with the results and let us know if you need further assistance.

Win10, Mouse and Kb not working in Windows - works in BIOS screens

Mouse and keyboard don't work on Windows install

This is a (now) fairly common problem with new builds using the Skylake CPU family and Z1750 MOBO's when trying to install Windows 7. Like many here, my devices work fine in the BIOS and even at the beginning of the install process. This ends after the initial 2 reboots. In other words, I can go so far as to choose my language etc., choose drive options, and choose to "Restart Now" in lieu of waiting 10 seconds after all the file copying, getting ready for install, install, install updates. After it allows that it's making registry changes, the devices cease to work. For me the pointer jumps to the top left of my screen and stays, no more input from mouse/KB registers.

I'm using a unified Logitech mouse/KB by the way, not that it matters. I've already jumped through several of the hoops suggested through searching, such as patching the installation ISO (didn't work), added USB 2.0 ports to my MOBO (didn't work), and now I'm here. My next attempt has me manually editing the “boot.wim” and “install.wim” files. I'll update this thread with my results if anyone is still following it and check back to see if maybe someone has solved it definitively yet.
