Is it possible to have the cascading menus with Win 10 as were in Win7?

You put your mouse over a folder and it opens up, I can't find out how to do this with 10.

    Many thanks

Cascading menus in Windows 10 for Documents folders

Is there any way to get cascading menus back for folders with documents- as seen in Win7?

I used to be able to put a folder in the Start menu and get to any file, using arrow keys.. can't find that in Win10.

This is the one feature I miss the most from Win7 and I cannot understand why they removed it.

I used to be able to drop Documents in there and get to any file.

    Thanks

  3. How to see Recent Documents in Windows 10 Start Menu

If you like to add it as cascading menu as in previous Windows versions, you may try ClassicShell (free), 3rd party

    alternative for Windows Start menu

    Worth a try

I loved this feature, like so many other things in Win7 that Windows got rid of for no practical reason.

You could activate the taskbars built in Desktop Toolbar and get the same effect.

The taskbar toolbar can't combine the two programs folder - there are two - one for All Users and one per user account where the Start menu shortcuts go.

Are you talking about shell:appsfolder(use run dialog)
You can create a toolbar for that too.
And get all this in a cascading menu:

Addition to the above, you can copy all onto the desktop, which creates shortcuts only. Then delete the shortcuts you don't need. Place the rest in a folder on the desktop and the desktop toolbar will cascade them out. Easy peasy!

    Thanks for the info.

I do use the Toolbar to access Documents, but it was so much easier with Win7 using the start menu.

I use Classic Shell, which is very good, but then you lose the WIn10 Start menu options.

    Thanks anyway

Yes, but I can't get it to search on the web directly from the Start menu search box, do you know how to do this? I still have to click on the Win10 search box to do this..

    thanks

Not directly.. I get a sort of browser button above its search box which then searches using the browser if clicked.

I don't think it's useful to mix such searches, personally.

I want Classic Shell's search to search things on my start menu - which can include universal apps.
(And universal apps can be launched from a folder in Classic shell too).
