Windows 10: Win10 Update 20H2 fails w error 0xc1900101 ACER logo freeze on reboot

On a Win10 PC Winver 1909 bld 18363.1256 I tried to update to 20H2. The installation progressed to the restart point, and then the computer froze white circling dots stopped moving when the ACER pre-bios logo screen appeared. I uninstalled all devices except mouse & keyboard and restarted with the power button. It kept freezing upon restarting, until eventually it said "rolling back installation".


I now realize that I had tried to install this same update several months ago, and went thru the usual hoops disconnect from internet & run an offline update installer, run win10 update troubleshooter, delete old update folders, etc until I finally gave up. I'm hoping someone can give me a more direct solution.



I'll put the contents of "C:\$Windows.~WS\Sources\Panther\setuperr.log" but please note -- the error log does NOT have today's date, so perhaps no error log was created

Error 0xC1900101 during 2018 feature update installation

I'm trying to install the 2018 feature update on a desktop running Win10 Home x64 with an Asus P6T motherboard and nVidia GTX650 Ti Boost video card. The update gets to 100% installed, puts up a msg saying that it wants to reboot, spends a couple of minutes showing the blue "Restarting" screen, then reboots. The reboot freezes at the point just after POST finishes where the blue Window 10 logo appears in the middle of the screen - no further activity takes place - I left it sitting for an hour without anything further happening. If I power off and reboot, it boots into Windows normally and puts up a notification saying that the update could not be installed. Checking the system event logs shows that the update failed with a 0xC1900101 error, which seems to be some sort of driver problem, but it doesn't indicate which driver is the issue.

I've unplugged everything I can - the only card is the nVidia video card, and the mouse and keyboard are the only USB devices. I also used SFC to check the existing Windows installation - it didn't find any errors.

Any suggestions on a fix?

 

Windows 10 Pro 1909 upgrade to 2004 or 20H2 freezes at 48% 0xC1900101

Hi,

I am a new member and have signed up as I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this out for the past few months.

I currently have Windows 10 Pro 1909 installed and Windows update has tried to install Windows 2004, however whilst installing on reboot it freezes at 48%. I have also tried previously to install 2004 with an ISO mounted and USB however with no luck.

Also I have tried installing Windows 20H2 both with ISO and with USB and again it just fails and freezes at 48%.

I have attached the error message I receive i have to force shutdown (once it freezes) and it rolls back any changes.

Please can anyone help

Dear community,

I am getting the 0xc1900101 error for a few month already when trying to update my Windows 10.

I tried with the latest feature update to windows 10 version 20H2 today and the problem still remains.

I tried a lot of solutions found on the internet to solve this issue, but none of them worked:

At about 60% of the update, it fails, and Windows rolls back to its previous version.

Any tip on how to get more insight about this error and find a way on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.
