Windows 10: Win10 Updates and the infamous "pending download" issue

Had to reinstall Win10 following a run-in with some startup issues, but that's another issue entirely. Noticed upon reinstalling that I'd have to update. I've got 6 updates apparently "pending download" with no way to actually download them. No download button. They're stuck like that indefinitely. I've tried starting/stopping/restarting the windows update service, I've tried deleting the update cache and letting it redownload the files, all to no luck. Is there a trick I haven't tried yet? I've rebooted multiple times hoping it would trigger it to be like "oh, yeah! updates!"

Whenever I start/stop the service, one or two of the downloads do the "Getting things ready 0%" nonsense until quickly going back to pending. Sometimes it'll get pissy and act as if it had been actually downloading - "download cancelled cause the service stopped!" but that just isn't the case.



Things I've tried recap:

Starting/Stopping Windows update service

Starting/Stopping Background Intelligent Service (per another suggestion thread)

Clearing SoftwareDistribution folder

Rebooting to the nth degree

Waiting. And waiting.

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

 

Win10 x64 update issues..... again

Recently I had to manually install a Windows 10 update because it wouldn't go past pending download. Today, I checked for updates and have 8 pending download, but are stuck again. I ran the troubleshooter and see this:





Any suggestions?

Please be informed that the pending download that you see in Microsoft Store are updates for the apps that are already installed and not new apps. You may uninstall the apps if you do not use them.



If you are facing issues in downloading updates for the apps that you use, we would suggest you to follow the methods mentioned below and let us know if that helps.



Method 1: Run store app troubleshooter.

1. Go to settings>updates & security>troubleshooter.
2. Scroll down and click on Windows store app
3. It will provide you with the Troubleshooting Report.

Method 2.

I suggest you to run the Windows Update troubleshooter it will automatically fix some common problems installing updates and check if it helps to resolve the issue.
