Windows 10: win10 + Vmware17pro + ubuntu20.04, VM's network mode is bridge. cannot ping virtual machine...

I have a ubuntu20.04 vm running in vmware workstation 17pro. The network of VM is set to bridge and VM has network address 192.168.1.5I can run `ping 192.168.1.5` from windows command lineI also want to add another static entry for the VM MAC address, and ping that IP addressI use command `netsh interface ipv4 add neighbors Ethernet 192.168.1.88 00-0c-29-ec-6a-bc`After that, there is an arp entry 192.168.1.88 -> 00-0c-29-ec-6a-bcbut I cannot ping 192.168.1.88, even after disabling firewallwhat is the problem?

Hyper-V Network Adapter Bridge Mode?


I'm running successfully running Android BlueStacks in a Hyper-V machine and have network connectivity through the host adapter. However, one Android app I run does not fully function because it believes the device is not on the same subnet as the actual host machine. Someone on another forum indicated that the host adapter needed to be in bridge mode, thus ensuring that the virtual machine is on the exact subnet as the host and other device attached to the router. They suggest using something busybox for the VM and set the network adapter to bridge mode, but I really don't want to add that to my machine.

So the question is: does Hyper-V provide a bridge mode setting for the (virtual) network adapter?

 

Ping General Failure with bridged Adaptors in Win10

Hello,

I have encountered a strange problem in Windows 10.

After creating a Network Bridge between two a network adapters I can not use ping or tracert. I get a General Failure error returned.

The adapters are a physical Network Adaptor and a VMWare virtual Adaptor. I can not use the bridging built into VMware version 10 as it doesn't work in Windows 10.

All other networking seems to work Ok on the host. nslookup, internet file sharing etc. I have tried disabling / reconfiguring the firewall but that doesn't seem to be the problem. I have tried removing protocols I don't use but that has not made any difference.

I can ping from the VM Guest Ok over the bridged connection.

As soon as I remove the bridge ping works again.

Any ideas as to a solution would be good.

Windows 10 ethernet bridge on Hyper-V not functional

I use Win Server 2016 Hyper-V and for testing purposes I have two Win 10 Professional virtual machines with this topology:

LAN <---> external virtual switch <---> Win10 with ethernet bridge <---> private virtual switch <---> 2-nd Win10

Win 10 ethernet bridge is not functional. When I try ping from 2-nd Win10 to LAN then it does not receive ARP response. I can ping only Win10 bridge and I can ping from bridge to 2-nd Win10. I disabled Win
firewall on both Win10 I tried to change adapter profiles (public/private), reinstalling Bridge MAC Miniport, no success.

Is it something specific to Hyper-V and virtual machines ? What to do with that ?
