  1. Win7 to 10, Uninstalled CustoPack Tools now I'm stuck with Win 7 Icons

Recently, finally, upgraded to Win 10 from Win 7. I'd used CustoPack Tools to run a custom theme on Win 7, foolishly I didn't uninstall this program prior to upgrading to Win 10. I uninstalled via it's included uninstaller not long after upgrading and in the process it restores Windows to it's default. I guess it restored it to a Win 7 default because all the default system icons are the ones from Windows 7 not Windows 10. I'm not sure how to revert this. You can see from the Download folder under Quick Access as well as the older style folder thumnails and the big ugly blue thumbtacks on Quick Access. Another thing is I can't for the life of me figure out why the Downloads folder under Quick Access won't change. I've managed to customize every other folder and Brink's guide on replacing the "This PC" set of folder shortcuts but it won't reflect on that specific folder under Quick Access. I've also used Brink's two .bat files to delete and refresh the thumnails cache and the icons cache (which apparently didn't exist in the first place) and no changes. Anyone have any ideas?

    :)

is hardware OK (Win 7) for upgrade to windows 10

I think in one of the other PC with win 7 or win 8.1 I run media creators tools and in some step prompt/found graphics card not supported... for win 10. I didn't found alone reading specs of win 10, but the tool says me... after changed graphics card the tool said all OK and continued OK with upgrade... That I ask to reach this step in this current PC - win 7 - must be all OK for the upgrade? Or must continue to upgrade to show this?
    and got to point

    • UPGRADE this PC now
    • Create media(DVD, USB stick, ISO)
is hardware OK (Win 7) for an upgrade to windows 10 for this PC???

Error Message when updating from Win-7 to Won-10

    Bree
I followed your suggestions (2nd Aug 19) for installing Win-10. Made the bootable flash drive successfully through the media creation tool. But when I attempted to upgrade and activate to Win-10 (64 bit) from within Win-7 (Pro-32 bit), I got the following error message:

Error # OxC1900101-Ox20017. " The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation"

I read the diagnostics under this error number and carried out the proposed fixes, i.e. update Win-7, uninstall Malwarebyte antivirus, disconnect all external hardware, e.g. printer, scanner, external hard drives. I then tried to repeat the steps to do the upgrade through the Win-10 bootable flash drive as before. Got the same error message.
Appreciate any further comments and suggestions as to (a) what does a failure in the SAFE_OS during boot operation mean, (b) what can I do to solve it. Is this anything to do with the hardware in my computer? I listed these in my first posting above.
    Thanks for any help

Win7 to 10, Uninstalled CustoPack Tools now I'm stuck with Win 7 Icons

Is uninstall of Win 10 as simple as...?

Years ago I used EasyBCD while trying Linux & it was free.

I went ahead & followed steps 1-7 & all went smooth. After step 5, I had the choice of rebooting now or later. I chose now & booted into Win 7 with no problem. Disk Management was a breeze. All in all it all the whole process took about 10 minutes!

From what I've seen, Windows 10 looks good. It's quite different than Win 7 but no big deal. At this time I really don't have time to work with Win 10 all that much but Win 10 seems to be very stable anyway.

My best to everyone. Thanks for all who helped! *Thumbs
