Windows 10: Window 10 Mail app.

A few days ago, my boss’s laptop would not download any e-mail from Yahoo.
Over the top it said something like “fix your account”
I clicked on the button, and tried to fix it, but it comes back with an error. I did not write it down.

So I decided to just delete the account and reinstall it. No dice. It comes back with an error like "something went wrong" and gives another error code. I tried to close and reopen as well as rebooting the system, still no dice.
I finally gave up and reinstated the old windows live mail app. That works, but he got used to the new mail up and wants it back.
Any idea on what could be the problem?
Can I download the app from windows and install again?

Organize Mail in Windows 10

You have pointed to the Window 8 mail app, which is different from the Windows 10 mail app.

The Windows 10 mail app doesn't have even the functionality that was in the very limited Windows 8 mail app.

I have recently reset my computer with Windows 10 and now on adding an account in MAIL App I can send but not receive emails??

 

No guarantees. Just suggestions............
Uninstall Mail app > go to Windows Store > reinstall Mail app

How to uninstall Mail app :
Use this tutorial : Uninstall Apps in Windows 10
Use Option Two.
Scroll down to (To remove Calendar and Mail app from current account only) > copy/paste the command line to your Windows PowerShell > Enter.

How to reinstall Mail app :
Open your Windows Store > search Mail and Calendar > install.

I get that occasionally on 1 of 6 Email Accounts set up, 2 of those are Yahoo Mail and never found a definite answer. I suspect it's a Mail server problem that you can't do anything about or they have changed Yahoo Mail.

There is more options you can try.
You can go to Cog > Apps > Apps and features > Mail & Calendar > Uninstall, or Advanced options > Reset.

I have used the Powershell command line before, then re-installed from MS Store, it did not work.

In addition to those suggestions you can sign on with Webmail and go to the Account settings. They may have introduced some sort of new feature like 'smart' inbox sorting.
I always switch off the fancy features.

On 1 of my Yahoo Email accounts listed the displayed name sometimes gets shortened and I have to go to Account settings > Save, to correct that.
Each Yahoo Account has different in/out server names for some reason. No idea why as it sets itself up.

 

What is the result ?

Have not had a chance to try anything. The Boss needs to be in and start his Computer for me to work on it.
might take a week or so till I get close to that computer.

Had some time today and talked to the boss and told him what I wanted to do to his computer.
He told me to just let it go, he will use WLM from now on.
If he should have a problem with that, I will do the reinstall of mail at that time.
So for now it is over and I will mark this solved.

Personally, WLM is far, far, far more superior than the rudimentary Mail app.
I would say your boss has made the right decision.
