Windows 10: Window 10 - recurrent Hardware Change Notification Sound.

Hi there. A few days ago I finished my current PC Build and installed Windows 10. Since 2 Days Windows produces a recurring Hardware Change event Sound every ~5Minutes. The only lead I have are some recurring events I discovered by Wbemtest. Neither Device Manager nor Eventlogs show anything regarding it. Currently I only know something is failing but not what...Any Time I hear the sound, it produces 17 EventsWin32_DeviceChangeEvent abstract CIM_Boolean TRUE Locale CIM_Sint32 1033 0x409 UUID CIM _String 76746942-D94B-47E2-BBA4-AFD2FDBA61 _CLASS CIM_STRING Win32_SystemConfigurationCha

Yeah, thats not a solution she is interested in......I've suggested that course of action. Thanks though.

Just to clarify, I feel that there MUST be a step, or series of steps to turn off JUST the wireless notification sound. Thats what Im driving @ here.

1. What is the make and model number of your computer?
   
2. Have you made any changes on your computer?
   

However, I suggest you to follow the below mentioned step:

1. Go to “Control panel”.
   
2. Select ‘Sound’.
   
3. Under sounds tab select ‘Program event’.
   
4. Under program event, select ‘Notification’.
   
5. Make sure you select ‘Notification’ sound for startup application and system notification.

How to change notification sound for ICQ ?

Okay, sounds like its probably a built-in notification sound and would be very hard to change *Confused.

I guess you could go searching for a third-party program/software that allows you to change the notification sound, but I am doubtful that there will be one specifically for ICQ 10.

You could have a look at trying Skype if you want an alternative.

Other than the suggestions above I am not sure if I can help you any further, sorry *Sad. Perhaps a more experienced member can suggest a manual way of changing the notification sound by means of delving deeper into ICQ's program code/construction? *Wink

You could also contact ICQ directly and tell them, would it be possible to include a customisable feature for notifications sounds. They then may implement it into a future update .
