  1. Window 10 update left HUGE ECHO on all audio playback

I turned off my computer and it said Windows Update and then Shut down.

When I powered back up I found I had a HUGE ECHO on all audio playback.

Didn't matter which sound application I used, I use several for editing & creating music.

I've found and followed directions from other posts from recent to years ago, but couldn't find a cure.

I've done System restore to a date I had no problems - but didn't fix it.

I've re-installed device drivers to the MOTU audio card - but didn't fix it.

I've disabled all the Enhanced Audio features on all audio devices - but didn't fix it.

Continuing to try to Find something I went the Control Panel again, but instead of the SOUND option,

I saw a "NVIDIA Control Panel". I checked the setup HD Audio just to see what it said.

I found and selected the option of "No Audio"

Guess what.... it Worked! ECHO GONE!!!

I hope this may help someone like myself who's been going crazy with CAVE ECHO

    :)

Sound Audio Playback Echo on Windows 10

    Hello,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I request you to try the below method:

    Method 1:

    Audio Troubleshooter

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Sound. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Audio.

    Refer these steps:

    1. Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.

    2. Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.

    3. Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.

    4. Run the
    playing Audio troubleshooter.

    Method 2:

Sound problems can be caused by cables that aren't connected properly, damaged drivers, incompatible drivers, sound settings, missing updates, and problems with your sound card.

I request you to follow the below steps:

Step 1: Uninstall the Sound card Drivers

    1. Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.

    2. Click on “Device Manager” from that list.

    3. Search for the Sound driver from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete
the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers from the computer.

    4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and the restart the computer if prompted.

    5. After the restart, please go ahead with the next steps to install the latest drivers and check if that resolves the issue.

Update Driver Software from the Manufacturer’s website.

Step 2: Go to the Computer or Sound Card manufacturer’s website and search for the latest Windows 10 drivers available for the Sound Card model and then install it by following the instructions given in the website.

I also request you to follow the below article:

Window 10 update left HUGE ECHO on all audio playback

The audio has a slight echo to it and is louder than it was before

    Hi Colin,

Thank you for being part of Microsoft Community.

I appreciate you for trying some step in order to get the issue fixed.

    • Does the issue persist while you are online or offline or both?
    • What is the make and model of the laptop?
When the audio starts acting weird the first step in getting the issue fixed is to make sure the audio drivers are up to date. I would recommend you to visit the manufacturer website and then download and update the latest audio drivers and then check if
    echo is removed.

In the meantime you can turn off Audio enhancements and check if audio works:

    • Go to Start, enter Sound, and select Sound Control Panel
      from the list of results.

    • On the Playback tab, right-click (or tap and hold) the Default Device
      and select Properties.

    • On the Enhancements tab, select the Disable all enhancements
check box and try to play your audio device.

    • If that doesn't work, select Cancel and, on the Playback
tab, select another default device (if you have one), select the Disable all enhancements check box, and try to play audio again. Do this for each default device.

Do get back to us for any issues pertaining in the future. We will be happy to help.
