Windows 10: Window 11 PC Stopped Detecting Second Monitor

Hi, I’m using a i7 Dell XPS 9th gen with 2023 LG 27” external monitor. I’ve updated windows but it still cannot detect the external monitor. I tried display driver update but it says it already has the best driver. Have restarted as well. I would like to use the “extend display” mode. I’ve had the monitor for two months during which it worked fine, but today it stopped and cannot be detected. Powering on the monitor, it‘s internal menu system is working normally. Any advice on this would be much appreciated. thank you,Tim

I realize that the computer is not detecting the second monitor. I will try to help you with this issue.

Please answer these questions to get more clarity on this issue:

  Does the second monitor support touch screen feature?
  
• 
  Have you updated the Touch pad driver on the main PC?
  
• 
  Have you installed all the pending updates on the computer?
  

Suggest you to plug in the monitor and run the hardware troubleshooter. Once this is done, restart the computer to check if this helps.

  Press “Windows key + X” to click on “Control Panel”.
  
• 
  Click on “Troubleshooting” and click on “View all”.
  

Click on “Hardware and Devices” to run the troubleshooter. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if this helps.

Second monitor not detected

If Windows can't detect your second monitor, it's usually a driver problem. It could be due to your video driver being outdated, incorrect or faulty. It's also possible that your monitor driver is causing the problem.

Since the issue occurred after the latest update, it's possible that the video or monitor drivers require an update. Try looking for the updated version of the drivers on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.

If the issue persists, try to roll back the drivers to the last good configuration. To do that, you may follow these steps:

• Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
• Right-click your device driver, select Properties, and browse to the
  Driver tab.
• Press the Roll Back Driver option if available, and Windows 10 will begin the process.
