Windows 10: window 11 unidentified network - default Gate way is not available

his is regarding Windows OS connectivity issue. Below is what’s going on: 1- When we connect PC_A Win11 directly to PC_B Win11 or 10, we get a healthy link and ping is successful. No problem at this point. 2- when we connect the same PC_A to a board with a PHY chip, we also get a healthy link and things look fine. No problem here also. 3- when we connect PC_B to a board with a PHY chip, link comes up but PC_B shows unidentified network and default gateway not available. We tried all available remedies on the net with no luck. As mentioned above, PC_A was the only PC with no probl

Unidentified Network "Default Gateway not available"

I use ethernet cable for internet connection on windows 10 platform.Generally it works fine showing the following status

But once in every 3 to 4 days the status changes to Unidentified Network and no internet.When I troubleshoot then the error message shows"Default Gateway not available".The IPV4 configuration
was already manually entered before this problem arose.

I don't have any third party anti virus installed and all my network drivers are up to date.I also tried resetting TCP/IP and restarting the laptop but none of those work and the status remains unidentified network with no internet.Amazingly after 10 to
12 hours the internet gets restored and the unidentified network status gets replaced by Network/Public Network as shown in the above pic automatically without doing anything and everything starts working fine.This is happening very regularly.I have to wait
10 to 12 hours everytime this problem arose for the internet to get restored on its own.Is there anyway to fix this problem.

Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try to resolve this problem.



Method 1: Manually assign the default gateway and the IP address and check if it works fine. Before assigning the IP address and the Default gateway manually, make

a note of the IP address on the computer. To do this open Command prompt and type ipconfig
and press enter. This will display the IP address, make a note of it.

To assign the IP address and default gateway manually, follow the steps below:

a. In system tray, right click network icon. Choose Open Network and Sharing Center.

b. Click Change adapter settings

c. Right click on Wireless adapter connection and click on Properties.

d. Double click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and assign the IP address manually.

Example: Old Ip address is 192.168.0.1

Change the IP address to 192.168.0.50

e. Let the Subnet mask and default gateway be the same.

Subnet mask = 255.255.255.0

Default gateway, usually would be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

f. Click on Apply and Ok and restart the computer and verify if it helps to fix the issue.

If the above method does not work, go to next method.

Ethernet Unidentified network/ Default Gateway not available


Hello, my pc was working perfectly until it had a critical update, this updated the Ethernet driver on my computer and after that my Ethernet said unidentified network, no internet access, when troubleshooting I found it said the default gateway is not available. I tried to install a new driver/ upgrade it but when trying to do so it said no intel adapters found on this computer. I already tried a windows reset and it didn't do anything. Any help would be appreciated.
