Windows 10: Windows 10 0xc000000e error

I have Windows 10 ver. 1803 on an SSD. If I disconnect the power and data cables from the drive then reconnect them, I get error 0xc000000e when I boot the computer. Fortunately this is easily fixed with EasyRe. But I am curious: Why does this happen?

I tried following all of the steps, but I cannot continue because I currently do not have Windows installed on my system! I have a formatted ssd, which means I cannot get into any windows settings. I'm stuck on the boot screen with the windows logo.
