    Windows 10 10586 (1511) upgrade fails / error 0x8007002C - 0x4000D

I am trying to perform the November update (1511) on this computer. (starting from the previous Windows 10 version)
Since I have another problem where it doesn't appear in Windows Update (despite fulfilling many requirements to make it appear), I am limited to perform the upgrade with the Media Creation Tool (which has re-implemented build 10586, 1511 into it after been pulled out)

However, the upgrade process failed when reaching 76%. After system restore and reboot, the following pop-up appeared:

    Windows 10 10586 (1511) upgrade fails / error 0x8007002C - 0x4000D [IMG]

Any ideas why this is happening? I upgraded this computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10 back in august, without any issue. Only now it did not find the November update through Windows Update and when using the Media Creation Tool it fails.

I had a similar problem with my system that was upgraded from W8.1 and I decided to do a clean install with the new 1511 ISO and it is a much better running system now.

Sorry, but a clean install is not an option here.
This computer is quite an old device (eMachines ET1870) and it doesn't have any hardware drivers available on the net.
I have done a clean install before and it consumes a lot of time, something I'm short of right now. Plus, as I already said, it is only achievable with having a whole arsenal of your (up-to-date) system drivers available on a (reliable) webpage.

There has to be an alternative.
I have read about log files been dumped somewhere in a hidden 'Panther' folder. I've found them and I can find traces of the error message inside it. If someone could analyze it and find the roots of the issue.

I've read that many people had issues with the update because of their antivirus software.
I uninstalled Avira Antivirus, Malwarebytes anti-malware and CCleaner (which also seemed to cause issues with most people) and ran the upgrade again.
    Failed again.

At the third stage, at 76%, it immediately jumped to 93% and immediately rebooted, giving me the "restoring your previous version" screen again...

I really need help on this (and not clean install as a solution)

Edit: side note, I'm actually wondering why this 1511 update is not even appearing in the Windows Update screen in the first place (always telling me I'm up-to-date, while I'm not) Could this be a root of the cause?

    Edit 2:

These are the setuperr.log files from both installation attempts:

I can't scroll right to see the full error details. Please post the error file with your message.

Have you run sfc /scannow to check for any problems?

    Windows 10 10586 (1511) upgrade fails / error 0x8007002C - 0x4000D

    Here you go.

I've done the sfc as you requested, it found corrupt files which could not be fixed (strange, it isn't quite long ago, 3 months, since I've done an SFC at which it found no issues)
CBS.log also contained within the attachements. (had to be zipped due to excess in file size)

If SFC /SCANNOW finds problems it can't fix, try running DISM /ONLINE /CLEANUP-IMAGE /RESTOREHEALTH from a command prompt. Then try SFC /SCANNOW again until it is clear (may to repeat several times). Restartr between each scan.

Your error log shows lots of problems with printers - maybe that's a clue what's wrong? You could try uninstalling all printers & driver software, do the Windows 10 update, then reinstall them.

Also see https://social.technet.microsoft.com...ion-of-windows which give a solution to the error "Migration phase failed. Result: 44" which you have.

What does the DISM /ONLINE /... command actually do?
I've just read that DISM has something to do with corrupt files prevent windows updates from installing... Perhaps also a reason why 1511 does not show up in Windows Update in the first place?

Indeed, a lot of errors with printers. I have printer software from an HP Officejet Pro 8600 installed, never had any issue with it, until now maybe.
I don't understand what you mean with "& driver software.." though, it redirected me to this page.
    Update Windows Drivers
What other driver software do you mean?

That post tells me to delete everything in the Softwaredistribution folder. I've done that this morning aswell, but it doesn't make 1511 appear in Windows Update genuinely, still had to do it via the Media Creation Tool.

Just Google DISM /ONLINE ... or search this forum and you will plenty of information. I've used the command several times to cure problems with Windows system files.

The procedure for complete removal of printer driver software is:

    • Turn on the printers you want to remove
    • Run Device Manager
    • Right click each printer and select uninstall
    • Check the box "Delete the driver software for this device" then click OK

This should remove the printer and all drivers. I would also select View / Show hidden devices in Device Manager and uninstall any hidden printers which may be causing problems.

Incidentally, please ensure you have made a full system backup before you start modifying your system.

I've tried the RestoreHealth command, it gave me an error, telling me it couldn't find the source files. (0x800f081f)
(CheckHealth said there were no problems, ScanHealth said there were repairable problems... *Confused )

About the printer: Is it also an option to just uninstall the Officejet 8600 components through the windows "uninstall a program" function? That also erases them out of device manager, I've found that out before.

    Windows 10 10586 (1511) upgrade fails / error 0x8007002C - 0x4000D

It seems DISM can't locate the source files it needs. I think there is a fix for this but I don't know the answer. Maybe someone else on the forum can advise you?

You can uninstall the driver software from the Programs menu but this may not remove the driver files from your PC.

The fix for that is mounting a DVD containing the Win10 ISO. I have that, except that I do not know which one I have to mount. The one back from build 10240 or Build 10586 (they one they currently offer on their site)

I would expect you should use the ISO for your current Windows version.
