I downloaded the update manually kb3116908 but when I want to install it it says that this update is not applicable to my computer. That is strange because I've got a dual boot. On one drive I have windows 10 pro and on the other I have the same but in insiders preview mode. On that one I received the update. Also on my wife's computer I received the update.
So on the same computer I did receive the update for the insiders preview but I can't install it on the normal win 10.

Windows 10 10586.3 and slow login problem

I didnt even bother to install previous iterations of the Service Update of November. I have only installed the LASTEST one issued by windows update last week (here in Germany) , and i have been having a plethora of problems since i done that.

I had to wipe all my GPU Drivers multiple times and install in different order (OPTIMUS system !!)

I had my first blue screen (or the windows 10 equivalent of it) after it was installed and i simply watched a flash5 video in chrome

    WLAN drivers ****ed up

Computer screen going black while OS continues to run in background (that is actually a old bug since windows 8 on this machine!!)
while having chrome idle on the youtube page with player showing the final frame of a watched video on screen.
but new was that my CPU going full load caused in that case and heating up like crazy!!!

I had issues with explorer.exe hanging , like right clicking C Drive and task hanging, executing scandisk from the drive properties "TOOLS" windows , hanging , also i had the exact same problem with slow login screen (this laptop used to be on the desktop in less than 6 seconds from power up, and is running a 840 EVO with the latest firmware).

I have never discovered any malware on this system ..EVER.

This Service update is literally a piece of shit im sorry for my language.

And yes Disabling Auto Hide of Taskbar did make the slow login go away...for now. But that is 100% just a workaround for something extremely messed up in the core of this update.

And another disturbing thing is .that although updating drivers through windows update is ENABLED , running the problem solve to search for device problems always wants me to reboot the system to fix something (of course it doenst tell you WHAT it wants to fix, but fails because it says windows update would not be configured
to get drivers...which is BS). I then discovered that my SYSTEM components under device manager had never received substantial updates and right clicking them "update driver" did initiate driver downloads and changes.
Which is astonishing given the amounts of updates this system has had from window 8 to 8.1 to 10 which went
flawless until this horrible service update.

This is not working for me this time ... It's random ... sometimes fast, sometimes slow. It was such a nice & easy fix and now it's all broken from scratch again *Mad *Banghead

  6. That is unfortunate. I can report that the disabling auto-hide taskbar fix is still working for me. Each and every login has been under one second since I did that. I know that may not help you, but figured I'd report my results.

I checked my build and it's also 10586.17. I hope Microsoft fixes whatever is the root cause that is ailing anyone regarding this particular issue. Hope you solve it and I hope it doesn't come back in a future build for me.

    Hi there.
I got the same problem. Disabling auto-hide is fixing the issue until I enable it again.

I noticed this problem is also gone when I uninstall my AV solution Kaspersky.
Using other AV like Norton and keep auto-hide enabled results in fast login screen.

Anyone notices similiar? Try to deactivate your AV solution (and disable its autostart feature) and keep taskbar hiding enabled.
Does your login screen run through?

Thanks and sry for english mistakes ;D
    Regards from Germany

Like I said, mine at the moment with latest build is random with or without auto-hide enabled ....
so having auto-hide enabled gives me the same result as having it off ... it's completely random ... meaning it's sometimes even FAST with auto-hide on *Huh

I'm on ESET .. will look into the AV thing when time allows *Wink

If I remember right, I got the login delay also with ESET.
I think Bitdefener and Norton (or no antivir for testing) were fine.

I'm using ESET and I've got the problem but my wife is also using ESET and she has no problem. I've tried Bitdefender and Panda. With both of them I've got the problem.
