Windows 10: Windows 10 10586.3 and slow login problem

So try reverting to 10240 if it's an annoying enough issue, and wait until there are reports of MS fixing it.
(The comment I saw about the latest patch is that it's an attempt to correct file associations that were changed in the TH2 November upgrade).

 

That's just it ... have they acknowledged yet that they're experiencing the same problem & are working on a fix ??

 

3 patches in the last couple days (last I checked!) so .. one can always hope..! If enough people provide feedback to MS that they can use, and the problem can be identified, one hopes so.

Beyond that it's a matter of identifying the root cause... so it comes to a personal decision as to which course to follow.

 

Last I have was 2 on 9/12 - 3116900, 3119147, and 3122947 on 8/12.

kb3116908 was installed on 3-12. Itwas the update to 10586.17

 

Oh yes- got that one. I think I looked at news and that was the most recent one I noted commented on.

 

I’ve got a dual boot system. On one drive I have win64_pro and on the other I have the same but as an insider. As insider I just received windows 10 insider preview 11082. It's a completely new build and it installs from scratch like 10586. The bad news is that the problem with the slow login still isn't fixed.

I was also told that there's a change in the boot sequence introduced in 10586. It's in a thread on this topic in this forum, but can't recall where just now. Many many reports of this problem as you probably know.

The most recent Patch Tuesday was on December 8, 2015, which you can read more about here: Patch Tuesday: December 2015.
The next Patch Tuesday is scheduled for January 12, 2016. So, we'll have to wait much longer for a fix. Shame on you MS!!

 

It’s driving me crazy that I can’t figure it out what the problem is. First I thought it was software related but that theory didn’t hold up because my wife’s computer got the same software as mine and she doesn’t have any problem. So it must be hardware related. We all have some hardware in common that we don’t even know. First I thought perhaps the mobo. But my wife’s computer have a different mobo but he same manufacturer (msi). Than I thought perhaps the memory but that theory didn’t work out. I don’t use the onboard sound but when I turned that on in my bios it didn’t make any difference. Now I’m thinking about usb3 drivers. I’m using Renesas usb3 drivers. My wife’s computer as well as my laptop uses a different manufacturer drivers. I didn’t mentioned my laptop before but that one has also no problems whatsoever.

 

Someone posted a picture of the difference in the startup sequence between 10240 and 10586, explaining the issue that way. If the change made by MS means people clean installing 10586 may suffer slow boot, maybe the only way round is install 10240 and then go thru the upgrade. Nightmare. And appalling if you started with an upgrade with lots installed, or now have your system configured.

Maybe some clever person can figure out an improvement. Fortunately I started with 10240.

As you've 2 PCs maybe you can verify that idea that which build you start from makes a difference.
