  1. Windows 10 - 1709 upgrades on its own to 1803

    Hi there,

We are running today about 15'000 Windows 10 - 1709 devices from a fresh install and we are facing strange issue. 25 of those machines were upgraded to 1803. We normally disable feature upgrades by GPO and users have no chance to change settings.

I could not identify anything common with those machines. All our clients runs the same master install image.

We apply our patches through a third part tool but Windows Updates are physically available for the clients.

Typically, the upgrade occurs from 90 to 150 days after the OS deployment date, if I check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Source OS key.

Last year we already faced similar issue with Windows 10 - 1607 that initiated an upgrade to 1703 without our any consent from us.

Is someone facing any similar issue?

Is any upgrade storm to be expected again?

Is there any good actual blog describing the science behind?

    Thanks,

    Laurent

    :)

Creative X-Fi Soundcards and Windows 10 Fall Creators Update 1709 = Complete Disaster / Not Working

Thank you for trying to help , i did tried your suggestion but it did not work :/ , nothing seems to make it work on Windows 10 Fall Creators Update 1709. In the meantime i have bought a new SoundBlasterX AE-5 and it did installed flawlessly , no problems whatsoever. it is up to Creative ( drivers ) and Microsoft ( bug fix ) to fix this huge bugs with Audio.

    Kind Regards: Chispy

Windows 10 - 1709 upgrades on its own to 1803

Upgrade to 1803, recovery to 1709. Cannot return to 1803.

When I received the upgrade to 1803, everything seemed fine for a couple of days but then I needed to scan a document and found that I could not communicate with my Epson printer/scanner. To cut a very long story short, I eventually found that turning my VPN (CyberGhost) off allowed access to the printer/scanner.
I decided to return to 1709 and that seemed to fix the problem, until the next reboot. So now I can't print or scan with the VPN active. Furthermore, Windows Update tells me my PC is up to date so I can't get back to 1803.
Neither Epson nor CyberGhost have any ideas, even though they have both been very helpful in running tests.
So here I am, asking if anyone here can suggest either, why the VPN is blocking the printer (even though the printer ip is in the VPN exceptions list) and/or why Windows Update will not restore 1803.
