    Windows 10 1803 feature update

    Hello,
I have a custom Win 10 professional computer
I left it off for a year, and am now trying to update it. I have encountered the “Potential Windows update database error detected”. After multiple update trouble shooter runs and reboots, I have got all but the 1803 feature update to install.

My OS is at Win 10 1703 build 16299.309.

After failing to install the 1803 update via the regular check for updates process, and several tries with the troubleshooter, I went trough the update database renaming process and was unable to rename the files because they were in use by remote desktop. I then uninstalled remote desktop and RD connection. That allowed the renaming of the two folders. The update trouble shooter was then able to repair the update database. Still, after several reboots and checks for updates, the Win 10 feature update 1803 has not installed. Another strange thing is Windows is selecting "Feature update to Windows 10, version 1803 amd64 2019-03" for my Intel I7 CPU based computer.

My questions are why am I being offered the amd update, and how can I get the correct 1803 update to install?

    The Update database rename process:

    net stop wuauserv
    net stop cryptSvc
    net stop bits
    net stop msiserver
    Ren C:\\Windows\\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
    Ren C:\\Windows\\System32\\catroot2 Catroot2.old
    net start wuauserv
    net start cryptSvc
    net start bits
    net start msiserver

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

Next Major Windows 10 Update Named "Spring Creators Update"

The next Windows 10 service pack major update has been named "Spring Creators Update." Windows Insider Program users toying with Build 17618 of the operating system spotted a listing of all the major updates of Windows 10 known to the build, when running "Get-VMHostSupportedVersion" in Power Shell. The last entry reads "Microsoft Windows 10 Spring Creators Update 1803." The version number (1803 in this case), often coincides with the public release date of the update. The Fall Creators Update 1709, released in 2017-09 (September) to Insiders. Going by that convenion, Spring Creators Update could see a "branded" Insider preview build this month, 2018-03 (March), with a public release usually 3-4 weeks after, presumably before Summer kicks in.
