Windows 10: Windows 10 1803 Installing Update KB4343909 - Error 0x800706ba

I apologize in advance if this is not the correct place for this, I'm a bit new here. For the past few days Windows has been trying to install a cumulative update KB4343909 and failing at the initializing stage. I've run sfc and dism trying to locate any errors, and they both return an error saying they detect an issue but cannot fix the problem. From there I attempted to run Microsoft's update troubleshooting tool, which crashes with the following:

Error Code: 0x800706BE
Source: Engine
Context: Restricted

At that point, I gave up and tried manually installing the update. It got about 10% of the way before it's CPU usage dropped to 0 and forward progress stopped. Honestly not sure where to go from here. I've seen there is a new cumulative update that replaces KB4343909, but that did not install properly either. I can rerun tests and attach logs if needed.

Hello I'm having trouble installing the update KB4343909, I keep on getting this message from the Windows Updater:

I've tried the basic troubleshooting steps highlighted in this guide: (Windows 10 Update (KB4346783) fails to install version 1803) but it still fails to update even if I run the standalone updater I downloaded from the Microsoft update
catalogue.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

 

KB4343909 does not install, Error: 0x800f081f

I ran the script as suggested by Sumit and rebooted.

Windows Update failed as did a manual install attempt.

Other updates installed just yesterday, but
kb4343909 fails at every attempt.

Mind you, I am already at
version 1803, so I don't understand your suggestion to use the "Create W10 installation media tool" to install to the v1803 that I already have?

I just need to update the "Build".

Update 1803 installs twice

KB4343909 is the latest cumulative update for 1803, OS Build 17134.228, released August 14.

I suspect what happened is that you upgraded to 1803 with the install media (this would be either 17134.1 or 17134,122, depending on how recently you downloaded it). Then you installed a standalone update for 1803. This may or may not have been the latest one, the os build number in Winver would tell you.The current build is 17134,228.

If the update you installed was not the latest build, then KB4343909 would have been downloaded to bring you up to date. But it would not have downloaded the whole 700+ MB all over again, only those parts of the update not already installed would have been downloaded..
