    Windows 10 1803 loses Internet connection for Microsoft services only


    Hello,


    since today I have a problem with Win 10 1803 (all updates).


    My network status looks like this (German system):

    "Problembehandlung" is the "Solve problems" and just does not find anything. So it wants to reset everything.


    Followup problems are:

    • Edge can no longer open any Site (IE 11, Chrome, Firefox CAN!)
    • Window Update is not working anymore (Error 0x80070422)
    • VPN connection cannot resolve DNS entries in the remote network (solved this by adding an entry in hosts file...)

    Anyone has a clue what maybe the cause and how this can be solved? From ipconfig everything looks good, I have an IP (V4 and V6) from my Router, DNS entry is set to my router etc.

    Since version 7 of the world`s most popular web browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer was silently renamed to Windows Internet Explorer.Such a step from Microsoft is not a surprise since Internet Explorer is part of the Windows operation system for a long time.Obviously Microsoft corp. wants to state that Internet Explorer is already considered as a part of Windows and not as an external browser (remember the IE and WMP law issues last year!?).

    Upgrading to Windows 10 from windows 7 and losing internet connection

    A couple of days ago I upgraded my desktop to windows 10 after getting one of those MS prompts. However now I cannot access the internet and suspect the drivers from the Gigabyte GA-MA790X-ud4 motherboard does not support the internet drivers required. Searching the manufacturers website has not given me any joy either. Can anyone offer any suggestions?

    Did you run the Windows 10 connection troubleshooter?

    Troubleshoot Internet connection problems

    Also, check in the "Device Manager" to see if the network adapter is ok.
    You may need to un-install it and then "Scan for new devices".

    This is published by HP; however, it gives some good info on troubleshooting with the device manager.
