Windows 10 1809 Fall 2018 update doesn't display filename with the flat '♭' character

Just updated to 1809 17763.1 build. Noticed Windows Media Player displays track with '♭' incorrectly.

At first I thought Windows Media acting up again as usual with the last few Windows update.

Turned out it's also displayed incorrectly in Windows Explorer

    For example the track is

    Impromptu No. 1 in A♭ Op. 29

The '♭' shows up as a rectangle in Windows Explorer and Media Player

But if I copied the filename into Word and this message, The flat '♭' looks ok as it can be seen above

    The sharp '♯' looks fine

    :)

  2. I just upgraded to Windows 10 October 2018 Update version 1809, but I can no longer shutdown or restart my computer.

There's an error in the penultimate line, '1803' should be '1809'.

I see you're getting a jump on the Fall update (next Update Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018 ?).

EDIT: duh, 1809 was released today Oct. 2nd.

    better character support in filenames

Do you think there will come a time when windows 10 can support as many characters in the filename as Mac or linux?

Bit of a deal breaker integrating windows into my mac environment at the moment as many filenames have what windows would call invalid characters.

Will it be possible if they eventually replace the file explorer with a new version?

64 Character folder + filename limit on DVD/CD's?

We just got an email from IT regarding backing up projects to CD/DVD... that there is a 64 Character folder/path + filename limit on DVD/CD's.

So if a pathname + filename on the network is greater than 64 characters, the file will be forced to the root of the disk and truncated if the filename itself is more than 64 characters.

Is this true? Or limited to a specific OS or format of the DVD/CD?

EDIT: Found this thead, but it's OLD (2002): http://discussions.hardwarecentral.com/archive/index.php/t-92367.html
