Windows 10: Windows 10 1809 release backup error 0x80070013

I have studied this thread as posted by EdMeza and tried everything Sumit suggested and still get error 0x8007013 when running the Windows backup.


Details:


Windows 10 updated to 1809 release (HP Pavilion platform)

No OneDrive software installed

External disk is a 2 TB Western Digital Passport Plus

Owner of disk was reset to the logged on user (my wife)

Added her as a user with full control on the disk

Ran the sfc /scannow command on the disk, no errors


Set up a backup consisting of a few files, it created the shadow copy, then died saying the disk is write protected, error code 0x80070013


Need help, please

After Windows 10 version 1809 update Build 17763.1, my Backup and Recovery now shows error 0x80070013 and will not backup as before

Did October update to win 10 ver 1809 and now my backup and restore will not backup, keep getting Error 0x80070013.

Windows Backup - error 0x80070013

I have seen several questions about error 0x80070013 but unfortunately no answers.

I have Windows 10 Pro Version 1809, installed 3/10/2018, OS Build 17763.134.

When I try to set up a weekly backup, I am firstly prompted to perform a first backup. Unfortunately, when the progress gets to 97%, nothing much happens, task manager shows 0% CPU usage for the backup program and there is write activity to the destination
external drive. When I stop the backup, the result is error 0x80070013 and a message that the drive is write protected. This is very interesting because I backup files from the internal HD to the external HD all the time and there is no problem in writing
to it. I have checked permissions and security settings and they allow just about everyone full access to the drive. The same happens when I try to backup to a second external drive.

All help would be appreciated.
