  1. Windows 10, 1809 still showing "restart required to complete install" since failing in October

Folks!! It is now more than 3 months since the initial release of 1809 and I still have a failed upgrade sitting on one of my system which cannot be removed. There is a serious need for someone COMPETENT at Microsoft to step up to the plate with a solution for this, OTHER than the smoke screen responses to perform a system restore to correct this failure. There was no legitimate reason for 1809 to just arbitrarily fail with this error on just one machine. It left the system not functional as the system then gave a BSOD with error 0x000021a. After many hours of forcing the system to perform startup repair it finally became bootable again. Updates now work as advertised, no other issues with Windows.

Troubleshooters, DISM, half a dozen elevated commands are all non starter possibilities for solutions as well. Microsoft needs to get their heads out of their backsides with this one. One customer or one million, its an issue. Correct it, get the patch out to remove your non QA'd garbage update and allow me to get this system back to normal.

    Cheers

    :)

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Windows 10, 1809 still showing "restart required to complete install" since failing in October :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.

  3. Repeated failed attempts to install 1809

My Lenovo desktop has repeatedly been trying and failing to install update 1809 since October. The most recent failure was yesterday (20th January) which failed with error 0xc19001e1. Previous (multiple) attempts failed on 14th January with error code 0x80070643.
The last successful update to Windows 10 was a quality update to release 1083 which successfully installed on the 18th January.

The exact messages associated with the last 2 failed attempts to install 1809 are:

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1809

    Failed to install on ‎20/‎01/‎2019 - 0xc19001e1

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1809 (7)

Last failed install attempt on ‎14/‎01/‎2019 - 0x80070643

    Any suggestions?

Windows 10, 1809 still showing "restart required to complete install" since failing in October

Windows 10 Feature update 1809 install not completed

I downloaded and installed Feature update 1809. However for some reason it did not trigger a Restart.

In 'Update History' it says 'Feature update to Windows 10, version 1809 Requires a restart to finish installing'.

I have tried a manual restart but the update remains in the same state - that is awaitng a Restart.

I have tried a Systems Restore to get back the a pre-install position, but the Update is still showing in my Update History in the same state.

Question is: how can I fix this, either by kicking the final install step into action - or backing out and starting from thr begining?
