Windows 10: Windows 10 1903/1909 Random Freeze

Hi,


I am having an issue with Windows build 1903 and 1909, it randomly freezes and I am forced to turn the computer off holding the power button, because I cannot do anything else as the mouse and keyboard do not work anymore.
This issue started about end of February randomly, never had it before and I was running the build 1909 and I did not change anything in my hardware. I tried many test and different methods to try to fix the issue but I did not work. The computer something works without any issue for 1-2 days and then it randomly freezes. I first thought it was happening then I was not using it for a while but it was running, after being left idle for few hours, but then I noticed it was freezing when I was browsing as well.
Maybe the issue was with the 1909 I thought, so rolled back to 1903 with a clean Windows installation, but it did not fix the problem.

I have done the memory test with cmd chkdsk /f /r and used Windows Memory Diagnostic, tested the SSD and used sfc/ scannow but no issue were found.

I have also tried to change some settings in Power Options, as I did read it could help, but still it did not fix the issue.

I tried to install the driver from the manufacturer, I thought the issue could be that. I did not work. Then I trying to update all the drivers and still, nothing.

Windows update has installed all the updates.

I did try reinstall different drivers for my graphic card as the issue could have been the driver, but I got no results.

I did check the windows event, and it shows an error message described as "The previous system shutdown at 00:17:06 was unexpected." and it is weird as the system did not shut down at that time, I was using it as normal without any issue, this error message comes all the time before the system freezes followed by a critical message where it says that the system was rebooted without a clean shut down, as I press the power button to restart it because I have no other option.

Windows does not create any file into Windows\minidump.


I have tried almost everything, I never had this issue before, I have not changed anything in my hardware, all the software and games work perfectly without any issue.

I think we can conclude the answer is ...yes...

If you have upgraded from 1903, just uninstall the 1909 enablement package (listed as a Windows update) to go back to 1903.

You have Pro so can take control by setting upgrades to be deferred for 365 days, and updates to 'Notify' in group policy.

Well would't you know it. I did everything, every step, all the suggestions, months of failed downloads and was going to wipe everything tomorrow and start again, but remembered I hadn't tried your suggestion of updating to 1809 before 1903/09, and blow
me down, but it's updated to 1809 with ease!

I have yet to dare to try and get it to update to 1909 but it's the 1st progress in months, so thanks.
