Windows 10: Windows 10 1903 Black screen issues

Hi,

After installing update 1903 from windows update, my pc restarted and started upgrading and showed update message up to 48% then restarted to a blank black screen and stopped updating. After this i restarted (reset button) 3 times and windows would not boot, just show a blank black screen. Windows automatically reverted back to the previous version after the 3rd failed attempt.

Then i updated the display and audio drivers and removed all usb drives and attempted the update again. The same thing happened while updating at 7% the system rebooted to a blank black screen. I switched off and on the pc (not with reset button, off and then on) and this time to my surprise the update continued. The update got stuck 3 more times on blank screen but by powering off and on the system resumed and completed the update successfully.


However i still have a very odd issue. when i switch off and on the pc windows loads without issue, however if i do a restart from windows, windows does not load. After post it shows a black screen on all connected displays. Note the screen is not off, it is just a black screen. win+ctrl+shift+b and ctrl+alt+del do not do anything. I am forced to switch off by pressing the power button on my pc and switching on again


My graphic card is Intel HD Graphics 530 and the current driver version states that it supports 1903 update. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling driver in safe mode although i did not delete driver from system just uninstalled the device.

sfc /scannow initially showed errors however after running DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth sfc fixed the errors but this problem still persists.

In short, i can switch Off and switch on without issues, but i cannot restart the pc. Does anybody have an idea why this is happening.

I am an it professional myself but cannot seam to find a solution to this problem.

• What is the make and model of the computer?
• Did you install any third party security application?
• Does the black screen goes automatically after a period of time?

  When you say “Now, nothing is on my desktop” what exactly are you referring to?
  
• 
  Are you getting black screen after Sign in?

Known issues for Windows 10 May 2019 Update version 1903


As far as Wifi any chance it is Qualcom inside USB adapter, if Qualcom then yes known issue.


I might create another user (Local) and when if try again see if this issue occurs on both users.

Would also suggest you run the first 5 steps in this tutorial to see if you have any corruption with current build.
