Windows 10: Windows 10 1903. Microsoft edge, settings, search bar etc not working

Trying to find a solution starting about 2 weeks ago been having an issue with a computer, Microsoft edge wont load anything just seems frozen when you open it, doesn't even open a start page. Tried updating it to version 1903 and now edge wont works still but now when i click on the search box and try and load anything like cmd, winver etc nothing comes up just remains black. Also when I open settings and click on anything in it like update, it just hangs for about a minute and then closes out only error in the event viewer I can see is a dllhost.exe error

I've tried resetting microsoft edge (before the 1903 update as now i can't even get into the apps screen in settings as it crashes), tried system restore did not complete, tried sfc /scannow no issues reported, tried a malware scan and windows defender scan, no issues found.

Microsoft Edge: Paste URL into address bar

Been using browsers since 1994's Netscape and never thought I would be asking such a question *Biggrin

But...

I am unable to paste a URL into the Microsoft Edge address bar. It appears the issue goes back > 4 years; and although I have searched extensively for a solution, no suggestions have resolved the issue. I can paste clipboard URL into Chrome or FF or Notepad or Word or [You name the app here], but not in the Edge address bar. AND, it is not limited to the address bar; I cannot paste anything into the search bar either. I can type in either bar, just not able to paste clipboard data.

I have tried all of the following, to no avail:

1) Click in address or search bar or Ctrl + L, then Ctrl + V
2) Click in address or search bar or Ctrl + L, right-mouse click and select "Paste"
3) Settings | App | Microsoft Edge | Advanced options | Repair
4) Settings | App | Microsoft Edge | Advanced options | Reset
5) Open Edge Settings | Privacy & security | Show search and site suggestions as I type: Disable (i.e., turn off)

I have seen no other suggestions, as of yet.

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region


I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.

 

Microsoft Edge Address Bar

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

I suggest you to follow the below steps to open actual address of websites with short forms as you wish:

• Open Microsoft Edge, click on More actions(...) at the right top corner.
• Click on View advanced settings, under Search in the address bar with
  click on down arrow.
• Choose <add new>, try to add the default website.

Secondly, as opening pages in new tab is set by design, I suggest you to provide this as a feedback.
