Windows 10: Windows 10 1909 'Freezing'

Hello, is there an application I can run to find out why my Windows 10 ver 1909 system is 'freezing'?

Starting from about 10 days ago, and for about 4 or 5 times since, I have been using my laptop, only to find the windows on the screen stop reacting to mouse or key depressions. For a time the mouse will respond, then it too stops responding. If I power the laptop off, and back on again, the system carries on OK, but not consistently.

It was particularly annoying this afternoon, when I tried to do my backup, only for it to freeze at 97% complete!

On the third time of trying the backup, I ran Task Manager in tandem, so I could watch the disc activity. It was OK until about 45 minutes in, again 97%, when the disk activity gradually dropped to zero, and I lost the ability to swap between windows, and even the different parts of Task Manager!

Help would be much appreciated.

Windows 10 1909 Upgrade Freezes at 48%

I am having problem with Windows 10 1909 Upgrade Freezes at 48%. Tried installation twice and failed. Any suggestion on how to complete the upgrade ? Please advise.

 

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

Steps to confirm issue:

• Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
• Secondary drive not visible in device manager
• Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

Steps to replicate issue:

• Installing 1909 update

Steps to resolve issue:

• Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
